Battlefield V Reveal Hype

The Battlefield V twitter account provides more hype for this week's Battlefield V reveal on Wednesday. You should pick the right tool for the right job, so twitter may not be ideal for a message that needs to be spread across five (or V) tweets. Here they are reunited for clarity:
1. A New Battlefield in a New Setting. It’s a brand-new experience and still everything you love about Battlefield – where every fight is different and brought to life across unexpected theaters of war.

2. Info Straight from the Developers (and @Trevornoah). Hear from @EA_DICE team members Andreas Morell, Lars Gustavsson, and Daniel Berlin as they fill you in on their #Battlefield V vision.

3. The Return of War Stories. DICE believes in both all-out multiplayer and single player, and the live reveal will have more info on the returning fan-favorite War Stories. Prepare for untold, compelling narratives in a new setting.

4. New Modes and Experiences. Operations in Battlefield 1 gave you the chance to take on epic journeys across several maps. Will this teamplay-focused experience be in the next Battlefield? You’ll know if you watch the live reveal.

V. Gameplay Changes. While we don’t want to scoop our own reveal, you can bet exciting gameplay changes are coming. Let’s just say you might want to avoid blinking during the Battlefield V Live Reveal.

This may not make sense to many people, but I haven't even felt like playing a BF game since they took out runways. The idea of spawning in a plane is just ridiculous to me. Fighting over planes and strafing runways WAS Battlefield. Back in my day you had to earn your plane! You whippersnappers and your instant gratification

I kind of feel the same way as you do. You have to manage your ammo as a foot soldier so why don't you have to manage your vehicle armaments. I do miss the immersion of being able to jump in a vehicle sitting on the map. Its not likely to ever come back.

What does this mean exactly? Never done before, ever? Or just not done recently?

So...the Korean War? That's the only one I can think of that they have not done.

Korea could be really cool. There's a ton of hardware there that adds tactical possibilities. And I love the idea of jets and prop planes operating in the same theater along with the first helos.

Maxwell Q. Klinger can be the medic class, the customization options would be amazing!

DICE is definitely making a Battlefield BR but I don't think BF5 is it...
I could be wrong about that though, might be a mode on BF5 and in that respect I agree with TheEmissary, it shouldn't detract from the original Conquest team based mode.

Panama.

It will be the best of Hardine coupled with the best military hardware the 80s had to offer.

And they'll get the rights to Van Halen's song for the intro.

Chronologically:

BF1, BF1942, BF1943, BF Vietnam, BF 2 / BFBC1/ BFBC2 /, BF3, BF4, BF2142.

So yeah, all they have left for 'real' conflicts would be the Korean war; or some 80s level conflict: Granada, Afghanistan(Russians); 1967 6 Day War (Israel vs Arab nations); the Falklands, etc.

My guess is, fictional, relatively near future, 2050-2100ish, so pre BF2142, probably no mechs, but a ton of leeway for cool sci-fi weapons and vehicles.

Korea, Vietnam, or 2142/another sci-fi setting would be my guess. An intergalactic battlefield where Operations span multiple planets. Battlefield: Rico's Roughnecks. Jetpacks and nuke grenades. Awww shit now I got my expectations too high. I'll have to lick some windows before the reveal so I can feel excited...

New Setting?

The only setting they haven't really conquered is a modern war in the U.S., there was an expansion pack for BF2 and the ending of Bad Company 2 teased at Russia attacking the US with a few US based maps but nothing on a grand scale of fighting on the streets of San Francisco or New York.

They sort of did this with the BF2 expansion Armored Fury. Granted it was more Midwestern or suburban settings. The concept was done more or less.

I am more interested in fictional settings or alternative realities. I would love to have a proper campaign centered on the conflict in BF2142.

No Battle Royal bandwagon mode?

I have no problem with PUBG and Fortnite doing the Battle Royale thing. Those games do the concept well. I have a problem with developers trying to ride the wave and cram it in to games or places it makes very little sense.

Why force a lone wolf game play mode in a game built around teamwork. I would be hugely disappointed if resources are taken away from the main modes for it. I would rather DICE try something original if possible that makes the series unique.

Don't pull a Fortnite and ignore your original game concept.

Random aside: Anyone play Frontline: Fuel of War? It was a battlefield ripoff from Kaos studios, who made the desert combat mod for BF 1942. Anyways, it was near future war, and one class had gadgets like Johnny-5 from Short Circuit (the OG military version), AND there was no commander, radar or anything that would let you spot people without actually seeing them. So you could parachute into the enemies' airfield, find a REALLY good hiding spot that would take them 20 minutes to find, and just deploy your kill-bot to the runway you'd control remotely, and just stroll up and down the airfield aceing any would-be pilots running for the planes ^_^

I played Frontline. I didn't like the running or the weapon modeling at all. Which is basically everything in an FPS.
