now tells us we can tune in for a reveal stream for Battlefield V on May
23rd, confirming a revelation last
week discovered through an Easter egg (thanks Don).
This page has more details on the livestream reveal of the military shooter,
saying it will be hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show and
that the festivities get underway at 4:00 pm EDT on
Mixer,
Twitch, and
YouTube. Trevor Noah
offers his thoughts
on
Instagram, where he says that he considers himself a gamer first and
foremost. To further whet our appetites, Electronic Arts and DICE offer
this post with 10 things to expect from the reveal. This includes word to
expect a new setting, so maybe a little War of 1812 action? We shall see.

On May 23, join comedian Trevor Noah and members of the DICE team as they present the Battlefield™ V Live Reveal. As the live stream draws near, we’ve compiled the top ten things to look forward to.
1. A New Battlefield…
It’s a brand-new experience and still everything you love about Battlefield – where every fight is different and brought to life across unexpected theatres of war. Discover the new challenges that will change war forever.
2. …in a New Setting
Battlefield 1 gave players the definitive World War 1 experience that brought the dawn of all-out war to life. But the next Battlefield happens on another frontline. The live reveal will give players the first look at DICE’s immersive portrayal of the new setting.
3. Info Straight from the Developers Behind Battlefield V

It's not 2143, so the only real question here is "how disappointing is it?"
It's going to be WWII so if that doesn't float your boat then prepare to be disappointed.
If they follow the current 'toon' graphics trend and turn out a Battlefield Heroes type game then I'll be taking a pass for sure.
Otherwise it'll be the typical DICE formula. Release a half functional game and then slowly bleed the fun out of it with nerfs. Promise new content while game breaking patches decimates the player population. Six months after release announce development will be ending soon and that they're moving devs to a new game.
Ready to pre-order.

Man I've give both my nuts for a sequel to 2142. Still one if not my favorite Battlefield games ever. I mean, 1942 was terrific but it hasn't aged so well now, but Battlefield 2 was amazing and still is. 2142 was like that, just with lasers and giant mechs. I don't know how long its gonna take DICE to go back to the future, if they ever do it.
I will predict BF5 will be firmly planted in the Pacific Theatre of WWII.
Expansions include Middle East and African and Arctic as well.
I had some fun connecting dots- Emperor Hirohito was often photographed atop a white horse(used as propaganda tool) before WWII erupted.

doubtful of a pacific theater WWII, I'm sure it'll have Wake Island again. Never found that map to be as amazing as the community does.

Always so many negative nancies in comments on here lol. Oh well, my group is excited for it. We didn't play BF1 as much as BF4 but that's as much of real life getting in the way as anything. BF1 is a cinematic trip playing that and am looking forward to seeing what era they do next (WW2 being my bet).

Yet another reveal to a reveal, Recursive Reality strikes again! 
The DICE engine(Frostbite 3? 4?) for BFV will be gorgeous, no doubt. The gameplay, gradually dumbed down, but still fun at first. The sounds, epic, I'm sure.
I think I'm Battlefielded out though, for at least awhile. Especially at 100 dollars for the 'full' game.
Also, I can't help but wonder how many man-hours get wasted on the ridiculous Easter Egg bullshit that .0001% of the community actually does (not counting the many people who just Youtube the clues for the items)

THERE WERE NO LASERS!!!
That was the main complaint from so many friends that never played this after Battlefield 2... 2142 was all kinetic weaponry. All infantry fired bullets, only the Rorsch railgun emplacement was "laser-like" and even that was technically kinetic.
But yes, 2142 was the best Battlefield game ever.
I kinda hope they're holding 2142 for the next console generation when they'll have Ryszen CPUs, so we'll actually see some massive gameplay enhancements across all platforms.

Futile and Gory sure, the futile attempt capturing that certain flag. Morally ambiguous? Doubtful, not from EA/Dice. Nothing really morally ambiguous or any representation of the illegality of specific conflicts with any Battlefield game, its all about those kill streaks man. For an MP FPS you could check out Rising Storm 2. The closest to 'walking through a jungle for real world half hour only to walk into a punji trap or get ambushed by AI' Vietnam SP FPS is Vietcong, which has not made it to a digital re-release.
