Star Wars Battlefront II Progression Change Plans

EA announces some statistics from The Last Jedi Season in Star Wars Battlefront II, along with the promised details on plans to further revamp progression in the Star Wars action game. They say the progression rework will come in March, and will be based on player feedback. They also discuss a new game mode coming next month and say the next season will begin "soon." Here's word:
It's been an eventful few months for Star Wars™ fans, hasn't it? Star Wars™ : The Last Jedi ™ swept into theaters, and millions of players lived out their Star Wars fantasies in Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II. With the release of The Last Jedi Season, the Resistance's brave freedom fighters and the First Order's imposing stormtroopers engaged in desperate showdowns on Crait over 156 million times, while X-wings and TIE fighters chased each other through the skies above D’Qar.

Together, you completed over 10 million quests for your factions. 58% of you chose to join Captain Phasma and the First Order, while 42% fought alongside Finn and the Resistance.

And to quote Luke Skywalker on the salt-covered plains of Crait, “the war is just beginning.” The most recent update added Iden's TIE/LN fighter as a hero starfighter and incorporated the Crait map into Blast Mode. The next few months are packed with massive additions to Star Wars Battlefront II.

  • We're working on a revamped progression system. Your feedback has been essential here, and we are preparing significant changes to progression that will address many of the things we've seen players asking for. We'll be sharing more details about these changes in March.
  • A game mode called Jetpack Cargo is coming in February. Two teams of eight players equipped with jet packs compete in Jetpack Cargo, a frantic, fast-paced way to play. This mode will only be available for a limited time, so don’t miss it.
  • A new Season is coming soon. We’ve learned a lot from the first season of content for Star Wars Battlefront II, and we're integrating those insights into our plans moving forward. We know you’re waiting for details on what’s coming in the next season, and we’ll have more to tell you soon.

Our goal has always been to create the best possible experience taking into account the feedback of our fans to continue to evolve and grow Star Wars Battlefront II.

On behalf of everyone on the Star Wars Battlefront II team, may the Force™ be with you, and we will see you on the battlefront!

There was so much BS being said about how long it took to unlock a hero. Within the first 5 hours of gameplay I already had earned more than enough credits to get Darth... So get over it already.

Not to say that unlocking the heroes first is a idiotic approach.

The level of dishonesty perpetuated by the reddit community, and by all the major youtubers around the launch of this game was ridiculous. And even more hilarious was how FAST the majority of the gaming public sided with them, even though they got the facts all wrong.

It's almost as if an angry mass of gamers can be manipulated like sheep to reinforce a narrative, facts be damned. And what narritive is more enticing than EA= the devil?

I've seen it on this forum a dozen times around the launch of this game, I spoke truth, and I was clobbered for it. Same old shit, being a shill, being "in league with the devil" etc. etc.

And yet people STILL believe that it takes a month to get Vader, and that it takes 6000+ hours to unlock everything in the game. It's utter nonsense. The progression is about the same as any DICE game. Oh and the paid crates were stopped BEFORE the game's launch day. Does that matter? NOPE! 90% of gamers still believe that the game is still pay-2-win.

Facts don't matter, as long as you can manipulate people's emotions. Shit, that's how Trump is president.

EA is the devil, but I knew that before it was cool. Not bought an EA game in 10 years.

I wish they'd release just the single-player campaign separately. I have zero interest in the PvP or supporting their loot box nonsense (even after they removed most of it - it's the principle), but I'm sort of interested in checking out the campaign. Maybe once it hits a super low price.

I 100% agree with you. I bought a copy for myself and my son so we could play together. One night after my son was put to bed I decided to try out the SP Camping that comes with the game. I VERY much enjoyed the experience, story was good, graphics were GREAT and I really felt I was part of the story. But, of course, it was VERY short.

It would be great if they could take this framework and build a longer running campaign in the SW Universe with it. I don't have anything against some PvP battles, but I've had much more fun with the campaign.

I mean, I get your angle, I just don't see the "it's the principle" part. They listened to the outcry, they removed all pay-2-lootbox elements from the game, and they're still delivering all post-launch DLC for free.

The SP campaign is pretty good, but not worth $60, maybe $20. But the MP is so fun, especially the heroes v villains, it's just ridiculously entertaining. The amount of "WTF moments" when you add all those force powers, physics, and abilities make it feel kinda like a MOBA with just the heroes, in a good way.

I don't even care about becoming a hero, I just like to snipe. It's so satisfying in this game.

I have all purples for the 3 slots that I use in every trooper class, enforcer, aerial, interceptor, vader, luke palp, leia, and Maul's scimitar.

It really isn't that hard, I mean I put in about 350 hours into BF1 and I haven't unlocked all of the guns you have to grind for...

You can get about 1 purple per full day of playing, 1.5 if you're good. So in a weekend you can fill up whatever trooper you use most with purples without much trouble. If you play blast, it goes even faster.

Something about this game keeps me coming back, it's not so much a shooter, as a race. Once the round starts in GA it's first to vehicle, then first to hero. If you're good at video games it's EXTREMELY satisfying dominating in this game. And even when I'm not doing so hot, I can always get in a vehicle, starfighter, jetpack, wookie etc. And the base Officer class is OP as hell anyways, can't tell you how many heroes I've 1v1'd with that class...

It's all garbage.

lol, but in the real world you have to unlock guns by getting kills just like most other shooters. The card system you upgrade/unlock with "crafting parts" which you only earn in small amounts from lootcrates. Now the main complaint is once you've unlocked enough cards you'll start getting duplicates and they only give you a small credit amount, not crafting parts for each duplicate.

That said the idea that you need to get every card in the game maxed out to purple isn't true. I can absolutely see that people would have busted out their credit card if they had left pay 2 win turned on. And with typical DICE game balancing they just nerfed a lot of the things that most people did max out to highest level.

It's a decent game. It plays like a 20 vs. 20 free for all because there's absolutely little to no teamwork involved, no multi-person vehicles, etc.

It's not just the progression that needs fixed, but the simple fact that the game was designed to be Pay 2 Win before they took out microtransactions. So weapons & cards that take a long time to grind out are significantly more powerful than the weapons and cards you might start with. So those who've put hundreds of hours into the game can wipe the floor with those who've put a few hours in, no matter their skill.

Despite all the drama around lootcrates, I found it to be a decent enough game and I'm not even a big fan of Star Wars anymore.
