I do, and I know of no group so comprehensively - and conveniently - misinformed about Europe as right-wing Americans.
American right wingers think they know Europe better then Europeans. Thinking it's some hellhole where you get raped to death by a Muslim every time you walk out the door is their favorite thing to believe. Nevermind that natural-born Americans are much more prolific rapists than immigrants. If I had the money to get set up in some decent place in Europe, I'd move in a heartbeat. The normalization of Trump and the lack of any consequences for anything he does pretty much signals to me that this country is finished.
many European cities are now shitholes. And this is caused by a very poor and loose immigration policy and enforcement. Massive petty crime rates (which is why every tourist is warned about pickpockets and scams, street harassment and snatch thieves aka crime which is excluded in crime statistics published) and Poor hygiene (rubbish, graffiti, fading crumbling facades). Now Trump is trying to prevent this from happening and he is getting skewered everyday by mainstream media
In the USA, immigrants have lower crime rates compared to natural born U.S. citizens.
That being said, I disagree with the way Europe went about things. While I appreciate the sentiment of wanting to help the maximum number of people, you can't bring in millions of people in a single year, and expect them to integrate into your country. You can't provide jobs for those people, or housing, or other services when you have such a huge spike like that. And we're seeing the poor results and the backlash.
RIP RedEye9. We miss you.
