ESA Rebukes President Trump

The Entertainment Software Association has stepped into the fray with President Trump after his widely reported comments about immigration where the POTUS allegedly decried those who emigrate from "shithole" countries. Polygon has the following response from the ESA:
"America’s greatness is built on our diversity," reads the ESA’s statement. "The president’s repulsive comments undermine the fundamental values of who we are as a country. There is no place in our society for this type of backward thinking, and we condemn it in the strongest terms."

No, the U.S. is not a playground for refugees from around the world. No, I don't care what Polygon or the ESA has to say about immigration.

Trump's statement was stupid but I don't need to get lectured by media pundits who have been brainwashed since birth to ironically be intolerant towards different beliefs when it suits their agenda. I'll go further and quite honestly say having to read political garbage on this site has made me move FAR away from using it like I used to and while the ESA qualifies as gaming-oriented in this case, I have to question the intelligence of many of the regulars here when they spout off about Trump like they are somehow enlightened when it's the same bullshit every time. Get over yourselves.

I noticed you guys never say anything good about Trump. You just dismiss the other side and attack the media, the left, Obama/Clinton, or whatever other boogeymen you guys believe in.

Anyways, guess what?. You live in a diverse nation, whether you like it or not. You could insulate yourself from it by living in a white neighborhood (plenty of places for that), but the rest of us want to live in this world. No, I don't believe diversity is inherently "fantastic". I do think having diverse police forces, government, and corporate leaders are better able to serve an already diverse populace. Right now? All those institutions are dominated by white males. I wonder why the United States has a such a huge problem with them these days?

Where is the Fake News Awards? Be a man of your words.

As for the Shithole, yeah you don't do that coming from the Prez, he's a proven idiot, so no surprise really. As for us bagging on people coming into this country, many work the jobs we don't even consider. Why do we always want to find some that take advantage and put them all into that bucket unfairly? You wouldn't want others doing that to you. Sometimes I wish there were sit downs in various sectors in America, so we can all get a feeling of what they do and that most of us are in this together, doing our part each day. Man the hate. The lessons being forgotten, staggering.

You literally just complained about people not tolerating intolerance. You called it "different beliefs" but those beliefs are intolerance.

Feel free to question our intelligence. Your post isn't showing huge amounts of it. You're whining about "liberals" disliking you because of "different beliefs" when your beliefs are that countries full of brown people are shitholes and countries full of white people are ok. Wait, dislike that? Give me a country full of brown people you feel isn't a "shithole."

I repeatedly get the impression you're not exactly the most successful poster here. Now, is that because you have less drive, or less tenacity, than the others here?

Or is it that your drive and tenacity will pay off down the road?

If ESA wants to speaks publicly about something, at least be intellectually honest, instead issuing feel-good platitudes. It’s a complete waste, like the #metoo campaign.

How is #metoo a waste?
Because you're a white male, and it makes you feel bad?

I think we need some Foxworthy jokes to explain this...

When you fled so the other tribe wouldn't eat you, it might be a shithole.

When beer is illegal but boys are not, it might be a shithole.

When the only white men you've ever seen wear light blue helmets, it might be a shithole.

When toilet paper counts as an invention, it might be a shithole.

When your toilet is the ditch in your street, it might be a shithole.

When you have to walk 3 miles just to get a bucket of clean water, it might be a shithole.

When the local hospital has to re-use the needles on its syringes, it might be a shithole.

When the only school in your entire city is a Massadrah, it might be a shithole.

1) These words came the POTUS during an official meeting with lawmakers (it's just basic human decency and tact, but I guess you guys set the bar so low for Trump...)

2) The implication that people from failed states aren't worth immigrating, it really shouldn't matter where you come from. People from one race or country are not "inherently" lazy or stupid. Back in the 1800s, Germans were seen as dull. Before WW2, Japanese were seen as lazy.

3) It was reported that Trump instead suggested we open more immigration to Norway. I shouldn't have to spell out what was implied - whether Trump meant it or not. It SOUNDS bad.
THANK YOU! This and what Xero said are basically the points people are trying make against what Trump said.

The point of our President is that they are supposed to be the BEST of us. When they publicly make these kind of remarks it shows the U.S.A. in a ugly light. Our country is supposed to be better than this. If you ignore the distasteful way our President speaks because he is passing the legislation that you approve, then you have to accept the blowback from his behavior also. But, that doesn't mean that the ones who oppose him for his ways is wrong either.

The fact that this garbage is littering my gaming news kinda pisses me off. It's not gaming news just because the ESA responded to something stupid someone said about immigration with a generic socially approved form letter. Fuck.

Whether you agree with what he said or not, I'm sure the LEADER of the FREEWORLD could have selected a better choice of word to use.

The POTUS always had a strong stature amongst countries around the world for us showing our integrity and "peaceful" solutions to police the world. At this time, NOBODY in any other country thinks that way of the POTUS. If you simply don't care about that because your in it only for what he can do for you, well, quite selfish ah?

This stuff really makes me angry..

How many things did Obama say in the last 8 years behind the scenes that could have been reported and were not?

You watch, if a democrat gets elected president next suddenly nothing but glowing positive stories non stop. only positive spin on every action. openly attacking anyone who disagrees, ignoring anything and everything that might be seen in a negative light.

That tells you all you need to know right there. This story is not about what Trump said its about how the main stream leftist media is nothing but a propaganda arm for the socialist democrats.

Man, the media sure is twisting the weak minds of the populace.

It's the racial subtext of Trump's comment that's the problem, so it's completely different. Besides, that's not really something the US president should be calling places in the US either, is it?

There's no racial nothing to what he said. What you're saying is up there with people who say "micro-aggression" which is also complete B.S.
