DUSK Early Access

DUSK is now available in Early Access on Steam, offering the first-person shooter for Windows. This trailer offers a look at DUSK's fast-paced gameplay and retro graphics, which are inspired by the classics of the early 90s such as QUAKE and HERETIC. The Early Access version launches with two episodes, and a third episode is on the way, and this post from a couple of weeks ago outlines their plans to move towards an official release, which will also include macOS and Linux support. Here's word:
The gleefully violent Early Access release of DUSK includes Episode 1, which has received fan praise and media acclaim for its quick action and unapologetic homages to the mid-nineties FPS genre, and introduces Episode 2 for the first time. In addition to the campaign episodes and endless survival mode, the Early Access release also now includes the open beta run of DUSKWorld, the multiplayer component of DUSK - so you can shoot your friends in the face with double barreled shotguns.

New Blood assures fans that the game will not linger in Early Access any longer than it has to, and have a complete, lengthy and semi-entertaining FAQ here for any players with questions or concerns: http://steamcommunity.com/games/519860/announcements/detail/1587947907202018531

DUSK transports players into and underneath the creepy backwoods of the American Northeast where you wake up hanging on a meat hook and must escape using any means necessary (dual sickles in this case). In this Quake-meets-Cabin-In-The-Woods retro FPS , you'll encounter an onslaught of mystical backwater cultists, possessed militants and even darker forces as you attempt to discover just what lurks beneath the Earth as things get deeper and darker.

Still to come in Early Access over the coming weeks is Episode 3, Endless Arena 3, achievements, trading cards, leaderboards and more.

New Blood has also laid out plans for the game's post-launch, which includes The DAWN SDK, Steam Workshop support, co-op, plus Mac and Linux versions of the game.

And probably other stuff too. Even a big box physical collector's edition. Nice.

The gameplay looks fine, but I just can't get excited about what looks like an uninspired and generic campaign.

Looks good. Gameplay could be a bit faster but I'll have to try it out before I can conclusively make a correct statement about the pace of this game.

No Linux version tho :E

Has good news though.

Deleting posts is an administrative function. As has been pointed out before, since all it does is replace the body of your text with a deleted notification, so if you want you can edit the post and say you deleted its content yourself.

Oh, I didn't know you can take stuff under the GPL license and use it for commercial. I thought only the MIT license allowed for that.

How does id Software feel about their source code being used commercially without license?
Wasn't the Quake source code released for free? Or am I remembering incorrectly.

Never been into that kind of music, but the gameplay looks solid for a nostalgia game. I like the spooky New England vibe.

This game looks rad and I really want to cover it. It's a shame the guy who runs New Blood Interactive is a massive toxic asshole. After he proceeded to mock me to his followers on social media because I misspelled his name when asking for press code, I can't cover it fairly any more. He's trying to be all "punk rock" with how he runs his company, which really just means he wants an excuse to act like a prick but claim it's part of his brand.

Yea, definitely, that was high octane Quake for sure.
