Outbreak: The New Nightmare Awakens

Outbreak: The New Nightmare is now officially available on Steam, following a few months of Early Access to this Windows co-op survival/horror sequel that seeks to live up to the legacy of games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Here's the release trailer, and this post has the details:
Outbreak: The New Nightmare has transitioned out of Early Access and is now available. We have multiple bundles available at hefty discounts across the Outbreak franchise to celebrate!

Thank for all of the community support during Early Access! The response to the game has been fantastic! As a solo-indie developer, I've worked daily on Outbreak: The New Nightmare and Outbreak for over 2+ years. It's wonderful to see so many people playing and enjoying these games across Steam and Xbox One.

Thank you very much and I look forward to new adventures in the Outbreak series in the future. Join us on Discord to find some co-op buddies and let's return to the world of survival horror!

I remember the first time I played Resident Evil on my Playstation and was totally amazed the first time I blew off a zombie's head with my shotgun ... If I'd played Outbreak back then I would probably have thought it was even more amazing, and now ...

Ugh. As a solo project, it's somewhat impressive, but there's a reason games moved away from fixed camera style gameplay... it's fucking terrible.
Yeah, I watched the video for it and I can't figure out how you even aim??? Do you just point your character in the general direction of the enemy you want to shoot and it like, auto locks-on to the nearest target? I don't get it.

Yup. That's how the old RE games worked.

Damn, I was sort of hoping this was a sequel or remake of Codename: Outbreak, a 2001 game by GSC (of STALKER fame). Although rough around the edges, I nonetheless still quite enjoyed that game; it was a nice mix of tactical- and action shooter. It had - for its time - fairly large levels, you had a teammate who was surprisingly useful and the stealth aspects were great. Its eighth(?) level also formed a significant chunk of the the first map in STALKER. I'd love to see a modern remake of that.

This, however, is not the game I was hoping for. This is just another of those games that makes me dread "indie" titles. Lousy animation, an awful interface, unexciting gameplay and a complete lack of imagination (gee, zombies in the city, how /original/). Thank you for alerting me to this travesty so I know not to buy it.

Thanks. I'd never heard of this one. I see it's on GoG, so I think I'll pick it up.

With a damaged Panzer still hunting 'The Haunted Tank' and Gus out of ammo, Jeb knew there was only one option, "Slim, RAM!"
