HOLY SHIT, check out this list. Crysis is on it, brings a whole new meaning to "but can it run x"

Ouch, not good publicity for AMD. Unless they take major steps to fix this, I no longer have a choice and must go with NVidia.

Actually, talking about this.... when launching Notepad++ I'm getting the error message about msvcp140.dll not being available. I tried the solution suggestions of putting the file into the correct Windows directory, but it doesn't seem to have resolved the issue. Can someone point me to a fix?

PATH issue, never a good thing. Some dependency somewhere is corrupted. Latest VC should do it.

Interesting... there was an available "Repair" on "Microsoft XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0", so I did that. Now I am getting the error for vcruntime140.dll... lol.

I have x86 and x64 versions of 2010 and 2013 along with the x86 version of 2012 all installed, this is Win7 in case that matters.
I hope you have not gone down the rabbit hole only to open a can of worms. good luck

I recently installed VC++2013 on a Win10 box and then tried to install VC++2010, it squawked and said I had a newer version installed.
If I was you i would install 2010 first and then 2013.
Restart and see if it fixes the issue.

If either one says it's already installed, use the Repair option if it's available.

best part of the 3dfx article was finding out about the DeepL Translator. It only does English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Dutch, but sometimes that's enough.

Actually Redeye, I was on that page. Unless I'm missing something it isn't particularly useful. It tells you probably shouldn't do what I tried, copying the file into the directory. It suggests reinstalling the MS Visual C++ Redistributable -- following the link they provide points you to the MS Download Center, where there are many versions of the MS Visual C++ Redistributable.

The "Programs and Features" on my PC shows many versions of that package installed. Do I just download and reinstall the most recent one?

Yes and no. Windows notepad is awesome for stripping basically everything out a text cut and paste. Notepad++ is too smart for this occasionally. I have both open 99% of the time.

AMD should divert the money spent on renaming video drivers to actual driver development.
