If McDonalds & KFC along with Fox were owned by Jeff Bezos, dipshit donnie would have no problem with the deal the USPS and Amazon made.

Even Trump gets one right every so often, why is USPS subsidizing Amazon in shipping, meaning taking a loss. We have to assume it is, the entity is still losing billions a quarter and at an estimated $2 a package, that is surely a loss. By doing so, it undermines retail who pay market costs and has the public footing part of the cost due to loss. USPS in general needs to start charging to at least cover the costs to a break even point and they are not.

You really need to go research the USPS's History, and Amazon's deal with the USPS.

I wouldn't listen to Trump about business regarding any topic. If I wanted to know how to fleece someone out of their hard-earned cash, I'd ask Trump for advice. Most likely he has stock in UPS and FedEx and would like to see the competition squashed so his stock soars, even if it means thousands of Americans are out of a job.

It's totally inappropriate for a sitting president to attack so many American companies out of spite. His terrible policies have already crushed our once-booming tourism industry, harmed our farmers, and numerous other industries like the auto industry, solar and tech.

And JD is right: the only reason the USPS is suffering is they have to prefund billions in retirement costs for every employee, by decades.

The USPS fiscal issues have little to do with its Amazon deal. It is one that was manufactured by the Republicans as a strategy to privatize or close the post office and satisfy private carriers like UPS and FeEx. The USPS is the only branch of government required to pre-fund it's retirement health benefits. NO OTHER BRANCH OF GOV'T HAS THIS REQUIREMENT. This is by far the main reason the USPS can't cover its costs.

It's also wrong to say that the USPS should be forced to "run profitably" and not use tax money. The USPS has requirements by regulation to provide service even in many areas where the population density is not profitable. It provides service to many places and days where no other delivery service will go. As a nation, it is both socially and economically important to provide a service that connects us all together, especially in an era where online shopping is rapidly displacing large sections of the retail industry. That it needs some tax money to accomplish this is fine.

If the bulk shipping rate that the USPS charges Amazon is too low, then it can be assessed when the contract is up next. However, the USPS has a lot of smart people working on these contracts, and it sounds like Amazon does a lot of the prep work themselves compared to other bulk mailers, so it doesn't sound like a giveaway to me.

Enjoying Black Mirror, especially the "star trek" first episode. In one episode it already beats all of the "The Orville". sad

Once again the dotard will do anything possible to take a jab at Jeff Bezos for the Washington Post while showing his total lack of understanding how the USPS operates. sadder
