Netflix knows what they are doing. They have a lot better sense of what their subscribers want to see than critics or even other film producers. And since their subscribers are the only ones paying them, well, their opinion is the only one that matters.
I suspect Netflix will make a lot of movies that critics dislike but that score highly on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic user reviews, and thus, score highly on giving them subscribers and retention.
