Your California accent is the problem. You guys need to stop using "like" and "dude" several times in each sentence.

As a child of NorCal, I will take "hella" with me to my grave.

I was in Rome and had to change my flight schedule. The airline's automatic voice service had a "call center accent". It couldn't understand my "normal" American English. So, I faked my own accent to mimic the system. It worked!

"Normal American English"

MUH FLAYT IZ CUNSELLED, I NEEDS AH NU BUHKING!

There's nothing normal about regional accents anywhere.

I've actually wondered who has the most true to english pronunciation of words.

People in Ontario do. Upper Canada was almost wholly English where 'New England' was a confluence of the UK and Europeans. So we speaking the most rounded, 'proper' form of English. Our 'accent' is the easiest to understand.

That's why I put the word normal in quotes.
