Squadron 42 Specs and Trailer; Star Citizen Selling Tanks

The Squadron 42 website now has system requirements for the upcoming single-player spinoff of Star Citizen. These specs are pretty vague about CPUs and GPUs, but do state the space action game will require 16+ GB of RAM. Thanks DSOGaming, where they also note a new IGN video offers a look at Mark Hamill's character in action in the game, where he plays a salty military type. Word is: "Get the best look yet at Mark Hamill as Old Man Colton, who your young pilot will interact with in Squadron 42." Finally, a VIP-only post on the Roberts Space Industries indicates they are now selling tanks for Star Citizen, alongside the ships they sell for the in-progress game. PC Invasion has the images from the post, indicating these tank packages start at an eye-opening $95 and escalate to a sphincter-opening $725. Orbiting back around to where we started, here are those system specs:

  • Windows 7 (64bit) with Service Pack 1, Windows 8 (64bit), Windows 10 - Anniversary Update (64bit)
  • DirectX 11 Graphics Card with 2GB RAM (4GB strongly recommended)
  • Quad Core CPU
  • 16GB+ RAM
  • SSD strongly recommended

DO NOT RELEASE THIS GAME EARLY! DON'T RUSH IT! IT NEEDS MORE GAME MODES!

Please add...

...RTS!
...MOBA!
...4X strategy!
...Survival mode!
...Adventure mode!
...A fully customizable space station you can buy (for real money)!
...And much, much more!

Whales get really old, so they can wait!

What it really needs is the ability to play a space game simulator on your hud whilst on long flights.

Would we be able to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on virtual virtual concept ships inside this virtual virtual space game simulator? Clearly this is something the fans demand.

Okay the nonsense surrounding this game has reached epic levels but c'mon... Mark Hamill kinda looks badass. It's okay, you can admit it.

$725 DLC - but guys, guys, this is not pay to win.

If there is never going to be a game for you to use it in, is it actually pay to win?
Thousands and thousands of empty procedural generation square miles to drive around on.

Which makes the $800 pack a steal when you think about the fractions of a cent you are paying per driven kilometer. I'm a buy this shit naow!

And working 0-grav pinball machines (sad part is I had to check whether they are in right now or not)

Battle mechs would be neat though especially in SQ42...

"Goddammit, we're not selling enough plots of virtual, non-existing land in our virtual, non-existing game! What else can we sell?"

"How about tanks?"

"YES! Brilliant! Tanks of air! We'll make all these plots of land on planets with no atmosphere, so players will have to buy tanks in order to breathe. Every breath a swipe of the credit card! It's so pure I could cry!"

"Chris, I meant tanks. As in armored vehicles with a big gun."

"Oh... But not real ones, right?"

"No, of course not. Pretty pictures of tanks."

"Sweet!"

I hope they sell a shit ton of tanks. Let others fund this game.

I'll admit it would be cool if they did an homage to Steve Jackson's Ogre.

I guess eventually qualifies as upcoming. And shouldn't the be sphincter tightening? I have to admit the shitstorm surrounding this - so-called - game is far more entertaining than it'll ever be...if if ever actually comes to pass.
