PUBG Replay Details

Minkonet announces more details on the recently revealed replay system that will be part of the imminent version 1.0 release of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, which is set to leave early access on Wednesday. The Korean tech company discusses the replay system they created for the game, saying this will have 360 degree 3D coverage, Killcam functionality, and more. Here are the details:

Minkonet, a prominent Seoul-based gaming technology company, today announced its partnership with PUBG Corp. to deliver 3D replay functionality in the online gaming phenomenon, “PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS” (PUBG). The robust 360-degree data capture technology powers the 3D Replay and Killcam features that will debut in PUBG’s upcoming PC 1.0 release.

“Building replay systems for battle royale, open world and massively multiplayer online games that typically feature huge maps and many objects interacting in real time presents many technical challenges,” said Peter Kim, co-founder and CEO of Minkonet. “We know expectations from the community are high and our team worked side-by-side with the PUBG developers to design and deliver a never-before-seen, immersive replay experience that is sure to deliver countless hours of ‘wow-factor’ moments and shareable content.”

The new 3D Replay feature provides seamless playback video of the primary player’s gameplay as well as the innovative ability to closely follow another user’s gaming feats and arena roaming as an in-game observer, providing gameplay viewers, including esports audiences, a superior viewing experience. Minkonet’s 3D replay solution encompasses robust 360-degree high-definition data capture technology that smartly parses large amounts of data from complex and dynamic gaming environments free of playback slowdown or gamer lag.

Killcam functionality provides advanced insight and learning opportunities for players interested in closely re-examining gameplay missteps as well as helping to detect and gather evidence of in-game cheating. Minkonet’s 3D data technology provides an interactive all-around viewpoint that hasn’t been possible with the textual event logs and the video capture of the deceased player in other Killcams. The company’s technology can be leveraged by game developers across all platforms to help curb the increasing amount of cheating and hacking issues afflicting the gaming community worldwide.

Minkonet’s full suite of 3D replay solutions includes a Replay Highlight Cam, Esports Cam, Streamer Cam and Cinemax Cam, all designed to unleash new content capabilities previously unseen in gaming.

Today’s announcement reinforces the organization’s commitment to steadfast expansion via high-profile gaming partnerships and media collaborations. The South Korean firm also recently announced the opening of its North American headquarters in Los Angeles.

PUBG is coming out tomorrow.
Got an e-mail from GMG for a 27% off. Went to Steam and read some recent reviews and wow. Some people sure shit on this game.

If there's one thing gamers enjoy more than playing games, it's shitting on everything.

It'd definitely be cool to continuing watching the game after dying. The new desert map is really fucking awesome besides some iffy textures on the mountains here and there.

I remember that feature being standard in the 90s. just like modability or LAN support.

Yep, along with being able to remap your keys, change your FoV, and not have your FPS capped. PC Gaming has been devolving for years, it's literally big news when a game offers something that used to be standard.

All 3 of those things are avail in PUBG.
The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are DoD and CS, but it was client side and took TONS of space up.

Hey Bats,
Are you playing a lot of PUBG? I know shooters used to be your thing.

So is this the feature that convinces all the complainers that they suck and it's not cheaters killing them?

Funny, but not accurate, this game does in fact have a cheating epidemic. Watch the killfeed and you'll see the same Chinese name killing person after person in rapid succession in up to half your games, especially if you're playing at peak China hours.

The problem didn't exist until Bluehole monetized loot drops, now Chinese are cheating(point farming) as a fulltime job.

Most of us are hoping that the Tencent Holdings deal results in the Chinese playerbase being moved off to their own segregated servers, which hopefully happens very early 2018.
Before that it was bad too. It was just mainly Russians and Turks doing it, so you were pretty safe on NA servers.

I watched a replay for the first time yesterday, and it was really cool to see the movements of the other players and how a firefight plays out from different angles.
