COH2 felt like an incomplete game and looked like it was geared towards microtransactions so heavily that it pissed me off.
I bought a while back some game of the year package and it *still* didn't unlock all of the DLC campaigns, which *really* pissed me off.
I have their battle of the bulge campaign and was enjoying the hell out of that until I got to a mission that I literally could not win. Within 3 minutes of starting the mission I'm swamped by a dozen tanks and a bajillion dudes. I'm still waiting for the research on my bazooka to finish. Literally impossible to win.
I quit and haven't gone back since I'm assuming that the rest of the game will just cheat that way.
When I played the closed beta you could actually pick your commander(s) and their perks. Not after release. I love both games but it was hard to swallow the theft that was CoH2 CE. They gave very little info of what the items actually were and upon release it was obvious that it was all geared for microtransactions and a slow grind to get loot box drops on occasion. What a joke.
All they had to do is expand on the first with other regions and armies and most of us would have gladly paid for those DLCs and a sequel. Instead they created a game around microtransactions and/or loot box drops that would give you better commanders with some different perks.
They lost a loyal customer in me. Doubt I will buy CoH3 but if I do it will be at a fraction of the full price.
