Crytek is suing Cloud Imperium Games in California District Court claiming CIG is failing to live up to the terms of their agreement to use CryENGINE to power Star Citizen, the crowdfunded space game. They say the license covers one game alone, and that since Squadron 42 is now a separate product, it would require its own game license. They also claim that their logos, trademark notices, and copyright information has been improperly removed from Star Citizen marketing materials. Gamasutra has a response to this from Cloud Imperium, who explain that this lawsuit is without merit since they took a page from the Duke Nukem Forever playbook and switched game engines:
