Star Wars: Battlefront II Adds The Last Jedi Content

EA announces the release of a new patch for Star Wars: Battlefront II, updating the Star Wars action game to version 1.0. This adds Finn and Captain Phasma as new characters along with some free new content based on The Last Jedi, the imminent new movie in the series. This includes a lengthy list of bug fixes and balance changes, but these details just cover the new content:

It’s time for a major update! First off, a big thank you for playing! This patch is quite action packed with new content inspired by Star Wars™: The Last Jedi™ movie.

On top of the new content we’ve made a major balance pass for Heroes. There are also some much-awaited improvements to game stability as well as improved logic to detect idling players.

NEW HEROES: FINN AND PHASMA
Introducing two new heroes!

  • Finn joins the Resistance. A skilled soldier, Finn now uses his training to protect his allies at any cost. Finn charges into battle and deals precise damage blazingly fast to any enemies who dare stand in the way.
  • And then we have the imposing commanding officer of the First Order: Captain Phasma. Few are more feared than Captain Phasma as she uses every tool at her disposal to ensure victory.

NEW CAMPAIGN DLC: RESURRECTION
Iden Versio is back in the Resurrection DLC! She is searching for answers, while the secrets of a First Order conspiracy are revealed. This DLC contains three new campaign chapters that continue Iden’s saga in the Star Wars universe.

NEW MAP: CRAIT (Galactic Assault)
On the mineral planet Crait, the First Order has trapped a group of Resistance fighters at what was once a Rebel Alliance outpost. You’ll see the First Order escorting the massive AT-M6 while Resistance fighters in ski-speeders attempt to stop them.

NEW MAP: D’QAR (Starfighter Assault)
As you recall from The Force Awakens, D’Qar is the principal base of the Resistance. Now experience an incredible space battle over that planet as the First Order attacks, threatening to wipe out the base, and the Resistance, once and for all.

HERO SHIP AND HERO SHIP UPGRADE
To spice up the space battle, we have also launched a new hero ship – Tallie Lintra’s RZ-2 A-wing. For Poe Dameron, there is a new hero ship upgrade for his T-70 X-wing.

It's worth $30 to screw around with, the shooting part is fun and you don't need every card maxed out - the idea of costing thousands of dollars to unlock "everything" before they took out MTX is a bit of a stretch.

They now start every player with crates for all the main soldier classes with enough to get you up and going.

I hated the beta and don't really care for the new direction that Star Wars has taken but it's a decent enough shooter with some pretty amazing visuals.

According to the Darth Plagueis book its alluded that Shmi was unintentionally impregnated through manipulation of the force. Video here. I mean it is a Virgin Mary parable, because parables and stuff.

“Okay. Should we continue to call him Luke Skywalker?”
“Seems fine.”

That's all the prequel's fault! I don't think it is ever mentioned in the original trilogy that Darth Vader's name was Skywalker. The way Obi Wan tells Luke about it in A New Hope it actually sounds as if his name is really Darth Vader, like first name Darth, no title, and last name Vader. So Luke could have been a born Luke Vader just hidden and renamed Skywalker...

Obi mentioned it in RotJ when he was a blue glowie right after Yoda had passed away.
And remember that Obi and Yoda were hesitant to fill in Luke on all the details because Luke was too much like his father. They did not know how he would handle the truth. They feared that Luke could be easily seduced by Vader and Palps. They also knew that Vader and Palps were incredibly strong compared to wimpy Lewk.
Everything they did was to protect Luke from an easy trip down the dark side.

Anyway, here's the full episode VI dialogue:

Luke: Obi-Wan. Why didn't you tell me? You told me Vader betrayed and murdered my father.
Obi-Wan: Your father was seduced by the dark side of the Force. He ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader. When that happened, the good man who was your father was destroyed. So what I told you was true, from a certain point of view.
Luke: [incredulously] A certain point of view?
Obi-Wan: Luke, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view. Anakin was a good friend. When I first knew him, your father was already a great pilot. But I was amazed how strongly the Force was with him. I took it upon myself to train him as a Jedi. I thought that I could instruct him just as well as Yoda. I was wrong.
Luke: There is still good in him.
Obi-Wan: He's more machine now than man. Twisted and evil.
Luke: I can't do it, Ben.
Obi-Wan: You cannot escape your destiny. You must face Darth Vader again.
Luke: I can't kill my own father.
Obi-Wan: [resigned] Then the Emperor has already won. You were our only hope.
Luke: Yoda spoke of another.
Obi-Wan: The other he spoke of is your twin sister.
Luke: But I have no sister.
Obi-Wan: [nods] Mm. To protect you both from the Emperor, you were hidden from your father when you were born. The Emperor knew, as I did. If Anakin were to have any offspring, they would be a threat to him. That is the reason why your sister remains safely anonymous.
Luke: [with sudden realization] Leia. Leia's my sister.
Obi-Wan: Your insight serves you well. Bury your feelings deep down, Luke. They do you credit, but they could be made to serve the Emperor.

Still, I rewatched the prequels recently after playing a lot of their maps in SWBF2. For all the nonsense, they still managed some high-value production on the different worlds, and characters. Strictly A/V, not writing/directing.

I think that Vader should have a debuff on Tatooine and Jakku because he hates sand.

Pretty sure they weren't trying to hide him...

Owen Lars was a human male moisture farmer from the desert planet Tatooine. He was the son of Aika and Cliegg Lars, and he became the stepbrother of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker when Cliegg remarried to Shmi Skywalker, a former slave. When Shmi was killed by Tusken Raiders and Cliegg passed away soon after, Lars was left responsible for his family's farm. Around that time, Lars married his girlfriend, Beru Whitesun, and they toiled to maintain the homestead.

Three years later, Lars' stepbrother betrayed the Jedi Order and became the Sith Lord Darth Vader. At that time, Lars and his wife were given custody of Skywalker's son, Luke, by Skywalker's Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The Jedi told Lars that Skywalker had been killed, and the farmer grew to resent Kenobi, believing he was responsible for his stepbrother's death. Fearing that the younger Skywalker would share a similar fate, Lars forbade Kenobi from seeing the boy, and he kept his nephew busy with work on the farm.

I gotta say, seeing Rogue One in the theatre, then coming home and IMMEDIATELY jumping into the Scarif DLC for the first time was a near-magical experience. That whole last battle in RO was so well done.

I think I'll just have to quit the server if I see the new map come up in rotation today.

The difference was that for the Scarif DLC in SWBF1 they released it the day after the movie came out, not the day BEFORE. Silly EA.

Anyways, the patch notes look promising:

- Boba nerf
- Chewie buff
- Yoda buff
- Palp buff
- can't instagib heroes by touching them with a speeder bike
- "better AI to detect and kick AFK players" (BETTER FUCKING WORK)
- "better performance on large maps" (BETTER FUCKING WORK)
- "no more stutters" (BETTER FUCKING WORK)

And honestly, the grind is fine nowadays, I have 3 blues on the exact cards I want for EVERY class, ship, enforcer, and most heroes. I didn't AFK farm once. I did drop $40 on boxes before launch, but they amount to about 5% of what I have right now. Honestly all that's really left for me to grind is purples on the stuff that I use the most, but I already have like 7 purples already.

3 new missions in the campaign, I'm gonna hit that first. Although I have saved up a lot of credits to get hero packs for the new heroes.

I'm also weary of spoilers, but this article is 99% spoiler free, other than naming the name of a new planet (there's no screenshots even).

As for the game mode, it's bad guys with AT-ATs push good guys in a linear map. So, I bet you could play it without spoiling anything important about the movie, other than the planet and the new AT-AT models.

I have my ticket reserved for tomorrow, flick's getting seriously good reviews.

I'd think you would be right about spoilers, but SW:BF1's missions for Rogue One were basically the plot of the finale of the movie.

I'm looking forward to picking up SW:BF2 when the dust settles and the game is $9.99 or on the House on Origin.

Can you somehow put spoiler alerts/filters on the news? They're kinda being total dicks releasing content before the film is on general release.

What spoilers are there exactly here that would ruin the film for you? You could also just avoid looking at any SW related content too.
