If Games Workshop was really smart. They'd find a good dev and create a fully online turnbased version of their tabletop games. Complete with custom painting and modularity for Frankensteining conversions together. Sell starter sets online like they do offline and sell all other units / figures as dlc. Hell, they could even include online codes inside of their physical miniatures / sets that could be used on the digital version. Create a decent campaign and have excellent online PvP servers and this alone could net them a TON of cash. Might it cannibalize some of their sales, yeah it might. Yet, the majority of people out there that play Warhammer/ WH40k on tabletop play not just for the game but for the modeling and collecting aspect of it. So most of these people wouldn't really stop buying mini's and games. On the plus side they could get in a ton of people that like the universe but don't necessarily have the time, space or skills to setup games and model/paint units.

Games Workshop could literally make hundreds of millions of dollars licensing the 40k IP to successful developers, but they are so paranoid about impacting their over-priced miniature sales, that the only license it to shovelware devs.

Exactly. They should sell the license to EA and make millions selling pay2win dlc... Right?

Right...because EA is the only option for non-shovelware game development.

Reviews are actually good though. So Maybe they made something decent out of it...

Even Totalbiscuit got onboard and says he enjoyed it.

How the hell are they messing up this license so badly? They are just pumping out shit games left and right with whatever studio comes to the door, apparently.

Just make some decent RTS and ARPGs, backed up with the lore and metric tons of info that are available, and rake in the cash.

Don't be silly, they rake in the cash with these otherwise they wouldn't be made... on mobile that is. On steam you get what you always get when it has WH40k in the name. Utter unpolished thrash made by people who really shouldn't be in game development or by the lowest bidder.

I still think GW does this intentional though. To not hurt their figurine sales.... wouldn't put it past them. That will only change when the head honcho dies of a heart attack.

I was interested until I saw that it's a vastly overpriced major grind p2w port of a phone game.
