Interesting that the 1440p rec is core i3. I would not have expected that.
Egads, don't get an i3, even though this version is 4-core w/no HT. Spend the extra $10 and get the 6-core i5-8400 Coffee Lake 6-Core 2.8 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo)
I take it back. That i3 looks like a helluva chip if 4 cores is all you require. And it's unlocked if you want to play the overclock lottery and buy the more expensive z mb.

I still don't get the numbnuts that continue to recommend a Nvidia 1070 graphics card when for the the exact same price you can get a 1080? Just a brain dead decision.

Where exactly are you seeing these prices? On Amazon and Newegg, the 1070 is ~ 410 to 450 on average, and the 1080 is over 500.

A better question is, why not get a 1070ti, which is ~ 30 bucks more expensive than a 1070, 70 bucks cheaper than a 1080, and can easily be clocked to match a 1080's performance.

Open source Vulkan driver eh... I wonder if nVidia will touch it. Cause if they just let it hit the floor (linux) then they'll keep maintaining the status quo with most developers sticking with DX, which their architecture does pretty well.

Seems like that'd be the play if I know big green at all...
