Stellaris Humanoids Species Pack Released

Paradox Interactive now offers a Humanoids Species Pack for Stellaris, adding new portraits, ship models, and voiceover sets for VIR to the 4X space strategy game, as well as remixed music tracks. The release trailer shows off what to expect, and the announcement fills in more details:

Paradox Interactive, a publisher and developer of games that tell human interest stories, today released a new Species Pack for Stellaris, the sci-fi grand strategy game from Paradox Development Studio. “Humanoids Species Pack,” available today for a suggested retail price of $7.99 on Windows, Mac, and Linux PCs, includes a wealth of new cosmetic content for ambitious galactic rulers. With new species portraits, ship models, music tracks, and voice sets for VIR, The Humanoids Species Pack provides more variety and character to Stellaris’ most-played phenotype, inspired by the classics of Western science fiction.

Follow the ambition of the latest species to explore the stars in a new trailer for Humanoids Species Pack:

Although I'll skip this one, I'm quite ok with these type of DLC's as they keep funding one of my favorite 4x games there is. I'm pretty excited about the next patch with all the changes, especially in defensive structures and losing to doomstack mechanic changes.
If you're not buying now, just wait until the next DLC/content release is and it'll be 50-70% off like the plant one is. Christmas sale will easily see 25% off anyway. The only reason I picked it up is because I favor humanoids when playing. Of course making the cute butterflies into a devouring swarm is always fun.

We'll have to wait and see whether that really does what they promised, it would require a total redo of every combat related thing in the game, adding new functions to the engine, recoding the entire combat system and replacing the god-awful "let's run away forever when FP is not equal" fleet AI that they have... I get it, it makes realistic sense, but it's SUUUUUUPER annoying to have to split up all your fleets into 1 ship fleets to hold a planet suppressed...

This is like the one thing this game doesn't need. Superficial variety.
I disagree, I really like the idea of this expansion. I personally prefer humanoid races in my games and I always play as humans in Distant Worlds, Stellaris, GalCiv, Aurora 4x, etc. Years of watching Stargate SG1 got me imagining that the universe is mostly filled with other humanoids.

Me too, but the one thing this game lacks is a way to play it Coop with a friend. its a major task to try and find your friend so you can ally with them to play as a team.

This game needs to allow you the option to team up and be close to your fiends so you can conquer the areas together.

There's a game setup option called "clustered players." If you're just playing with a couple of friends, you should be able to find each other pretty easily after that. I hope that helps!

As for the pack, I can understand waiting, but I got it. I love this game, and art assets seems like a simple way for them to expand it in a way that is meaningful to some players, and doesn't effect gameplay. I hope they keep on producing packs like this.

This is like the one thing this game doesn't need. Superficial variety. The last expansion pack that added AI races was pretty good. The game would be perfect if it added more variety that actually reflected in specific gameplay changes. As it is playing with most of the species in the game feels exactly the same with each playthrough.

The dev team is working on a gameplay expansion. I don't see an issue with the art team having an expansion to call their own. It's not like there's a great amount of overlap between the teams, so you're not dealing with a "rob Peter to pay Paul" scenario.
