discount for the next two days, taking the Humble Bundle "pay what you want"
strategy to the extreme. As usual, this will be redeemed through Steam, so a
Steam account is prerequisite for this. Here's a reminder of what to expect from this
third-person shooter set in the XCOM universe:
The year is 1962 and the Cold War has the nation gripped by fear. A top-secret government unit called The Bureau begins investigating a series of mysterious attacks by an enemy more powerful than communism. As agent Carter, call the shots, pull the trigger and lead your squad in a gripping third-person tactical shooter set within a covert war to protect humanity from an otherworldly enemy.

Really? The ONLY game you've never finished. You either have a really small game library or are really an OCD completionist. I'd say the overwhelming majority of games I have I've never finished.

Yes, the only game I've never finished. I have a library of hundreds of titles, going back decades. So this is something special.
But the reason I didn't finish it isn't because it is the worst game ever - it isn't. The story was absurd, and had f-all to do with XCOM. The shooting was a bit better, but really only hit "passable" at its zenith.
I guess rather than awful I would revise my statement to say I found it crushingly mediocre.

I know. I was a monthly subscriber starting with a coupon up until recently. I only pointed out that it had a coupon for those that were interested. Their recent sales on regular games and the # of games they are giving away has accelerated since...you know what.

Since IGN (Oct 13 announcement): I got 4 free titles
FYI they changed their "legaleze" on Sep 14th (obviously the purchase occurred earlier than announcement) and if you count free titles from that date, it's 6. 6 in 2.5 months versus 4 in 7. Nope. Definitely nothing changed.

As an XCOM game, it wasn't great. As a standalone game with no baggage attached, it was actually pretty decent. The setting was cool and the combat was interesting enough. The story also has one of the weirdest plot twists I've ever seen in a game.
Personally I really liked The Bureau. Great setting, mostly fun combat, decent story, and just enough XCOM references to earn the name. You can't go wrong for the price either...
