Star Citizen Land Rush

Though the Stretch Goals page on the Roberts Space Industries website shows Star Citizen's crowdfunding campaign has raised over $168 million, Cloud Imperium has figured out another way to raise funds for the space game besides selling virtual ship licenses. Word is they are now licensing land claims. This Q&A covers the details and this video has more. Word is: "Please Note: These claim licenses are being made available for pledging to help fund Star Citizenís development. The ability to obtain these claim licenses will ultimately be available for in-game credits and/or otherwise earnable through play in the game. Pledging for these claim licenses now allows us to include deeper features in the Star Citizen game, and is not required for starting the game." VG247 notes that these parcels are priced like full games, ranging from $50 to $100.

He really ought to consider selling AIR to put in your spacesuits also.
You can't travel around the galaxy's planets without that precious air to breathe in-game.

the alien artifact is a turbinium reactor that will create a breathable atmosphere for Mars when activated, eliminating Cohaagen's abusive monopoly on breathable air.

Remember.
The more you spend, the more you save.
Make sure you buy enough land (I recommend from mountain top to mountain top) so you don't have to see the WalMart going in next door.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Chris Roberts saw the shit that Richard Garriott is pulling off, and thought "Holy hell. This way I don't even have to have artists draw pictures of pretty spaceships! I can literally sell just NOTHING!"

^ this

Under normal circumstances you would say that SC has hit a new low but they started hitting the lowest possible depths with massive lies ("last chance LTI", "no more ships for real money after the pledge campaign ends") back in 2012 already so this is just a continuation of their low blow streak. What a fucking muppet show that "game" has become... jeez.

This is another game that I really wish would die. And I original backed it. I wish I hadn't now.

Roberts would sell his mother and sister in a two bit saloon if he could make a few dollars from them.

Yeah read this one last night, was waiting for it to appear here. Yes people you can buy your plot of land in game! But I'm not against this, it is a choice no one is forced to buying. If you want to go ahead, I won't be your neighbor though and if no one buys it, probably is for the best. But you know people already have.
