I see that Cutter's little brother is posting again on Cutter's account. Put the mouse down kid.

Here's a game for the 1% gamers with $4,000 computers. My potato computer would probably blow up if I went anywhere near that thing.
Yeah I've given up on the idea of being able to ever run this game. My priorities have shifted in the last 5 years and I'm not the type of person to spend a fortune building the kind of computer that can run this smoothly.
I backed for SQ42 and at the rate we're going we'll see that in 5 years probably. One thing these videos have shown me is that Chris Roberts doesn't particularly know what makes games *fun*.
Meh. Oh well.

People wanted another Wing Commander and Privateer, and now they get THIS?! People working on virtual hair and... Oh my. Whatever. Elite is out and fun. Even without millions wasted on facial animations and hair f/x. SC is still one mess of a project. Best of luck on delivering the game within the next 10 years.
RedEye9 wrote on Nov 25, 2017, 13:00:Doubtful. If I can get up to 80fps on a poorly optimised alpha when they haven't even implemented Vulkan support then I don't think the final game will be all that ridiculous. In fact by taking full advantage of the PC platform I expect it to actually do better than most multi-platform releases. Right now most of the performance issues stem from server bottlenecks but recent PTU patches have substantially improved things - it's why they've been running tests with the player count increased from 24 to 60. When object container streaming is fully integrated that will help performance significantly.
Can it run Star Citizen will replace Can it run Crysis as the new meme.

So 5 years and 100 million bucks later they have one hour of boring as hell gameplay to show for it. Wow. Just wow.
Give me a break man. They have nearly completed a single system, from which one of the beta players made this video. That system will probably have a couple dozen hours of gameplay, depending on how much you want to putz around.
Star Citizen has screwed up in so many ways that there's no need to just make shit up about them.
Hey Koolaid!

KickStarter money well spent, what do the other 1.9 million citizens get besides ship jpegs.

jdreyer wrote on Nov 24, 2017, 21:14:Hehe, cheers. Just be realistic with your expectations. It's a major improvement but there's still a long way to go. It's much better played with a group of friends.
Hey, congrats on winning an Optane. I am looking forward to trying 3.0, which sadly is months behind schedule. Hoping I can cruise around a few planets and maybe do a few missions in beautifully rendered space.
Xero wrote on Nov 25, 2017, 00:22:It won't because they are constantly improving the fidelity. Go back and watch the original Kickstarter video and the progress is incredible. Even year on year the fidelity is improving considerably.
By the time this game comes out, it's gonna look old and outdated. There is so much already in there that looks like been there done that. Heck the spaceship in Alien Isolation has a more realistic look than that.
I also find the facial animations to look quirky but I'm sure they can fix that up.

Impressive! The core engine mechanics seem to be in place.
Next up, gameplay systems!
Excited, in a decade or two this will be one of the premier beta stage games.

After gameplay systems comes content. CR promised 100 systems. There's less than one. Hell, I'd settle for 10 complete systems at this point.
Also, we've heard nothing about the single player campaign for years.
Performance is substantially better in 3.0. Depending on the server I've been getting as much as 60-80fps, though that reduces as the server continues. There's more work to come but this is the first time performance has come even close to acceptable in the persistent universe.
As for gameplay and enjoyability, that still isn't there. It's better than it was but it's a long way from being a game for the average gamer. It really comes down to how quickly they can iterate and add gameplay features. This year has been chronically slow and pace needs to pick up.
All that said I'm happy I went to CitizenCon this year and I even managed to win an Optane 900P, which was a major bonus. Progress is being made, even if it's not as quick as I'd like.
