I don't know why so many people seem to think that you have to be convicted of a crime before people are allowed to think you're a piece of shit.

It generally seems to be self-identifying MRA weirdos who are afraid of innocently doing something they're latter being accused of being gross for. Which is what Louis is claiming happened, but saddened about his judgment, not that it was late found to be creepy.

It's pretty easy to not unintentionally do something others find creepy, but...
Tell that to George Takei. Ooops, narrative wrecked.

What narrative? That you can't read? That's still intact.

I said it's self-identifying MRAs, yourself included, that think you have to be convicted of a crime before people think you're a piece of shit. I didn't say it's self-identifying MRAs doing the actual creepy shit that Takei did.

But you have some liberal boogeyman so built up in your head you think anyone that finds you a garbage human being must think Takei is awesome. Because you think there's some hivemind out there counter to the one you spend all your time on The_Donald being a part of (and fearing.)

This shit is not exclusive to the entertainment industry.

People in power too often think that privilege is some type of armor against moral misconduct. Whether politician, scientist, entertainer or CEO, the mindset is the same and I'm fine with it being dragged into the light.

Professionals having actual repercussions for unprofessional, doesn't happen often for famous people the same way it usually happens to us plebs.

Show up to work on drugs - fired. Expose yourself to your cast members and are told on 15 years later, lose business.

Ok the arm of justice is still pretty long for them but its something.

Who cares? He did something inappropriate that virtually anyone would find disgusting, he admitted he did it. You'd have to be legendarily mentally retarded to think hiring the guy or putting his name next to yours would be a good idea at this point.

The solution to the toxicity of identity politics surely isn't to add white identity politics to the mix.

Louis CK hasn't been accused of any crimes, not even predatory behavior. He never threatened anyone or promised anything. He wanted to expose himself to people that he apparently admired and would ask them if it was OK. That is terribly misguided but certainly not the same as criminal predatory behavior.

It's interesting that you say "criminal" when no one has accused him of a crime.

People in power think they can get away with anything. Now, for a while, they will be called out. This will be over soon and the casting couches will creak again.
They're waiting for you, Gabe, in the test chamber!

And with an honest heartfelt apology that any self respecting hypocritical politician should study like the bible.
CK's statement here http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/10/entertainment/louis-ck-full-statement/index.html

It does seem heartfelt, unlike statements like Spacey's blatant cynicism. Some people have criticised it but it seems like nit-picking (he doesn't explicitly say sorry, but the tone is clear; he talks about being admired a lot, but abuse of power is the subject).

I'd like to separate the art from the artist but that's tough. Celebrities being in the news - for good or bad - distracts from their performance but even after this isn't fresh in the mind some of his material has changed context.

So the PC Inquisition begins. Commit a crime? Wait, not commit, been accused of a crime? Then you're up shit creek without a paddle.
