AMD on Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on AMD

The Radeon Website has details on running Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on AMD hardware. The post describes the extra effort MachineGames put into supporting red team hardware in their shooter sequel:

“When we started development of Wolfenstein II, the choice of graphics API for PC was a simple one. DOOM had already set the stage for what could be done with Vulkan and we wanted to take it to the next level. Using Vulkan when developing has allowed us to utilize the power of AMD’s VEGA graphics chips in ways that were not possible before, giving us fine grained control over the performance and feature set of the GPU without having to sacrifice artistic intent. Combined with the flexibility of AMD’s hardware, Vulkan gives us the artistic freedom to deliver Wolfenstein without compromise.”

Does this mean Windows 7 PCs can also enjoy the benefit of Windows 10 exclusive DirectX 10 features with Vulkan?

DirectX 10 is exclusive to Win10? Since when?

Nevertheless, GLide =/= OpenGL =/= Vulcan =/= DirectX

Therefore, they got different names which kind of gives it away.

Or was this just about HATE WIN10, PEOPLE! /shakes fist at clouds and throws rocks at the moon ? If so... Go on. It's entertaining.

They're waiting for you, Gabe, in the test chamber!

Great. Now let's hear about how nVidia hardware didn't need special attention since it just already works.

In all seriousness though, I'm glad AMD can finally afford to pay people to say nice things.

I was about to say something along those lines...

Like "When we started development on Wolfenstein II, the choice for graphics API for PC was a simple one....whichever one gave us the most money."

Out of principle alone, I wish Vulcan works better and was implemented more ...

Good thing it was written by a programmer and not a marketing major.
