Out of the Blue

Hey, the Orionid meteor shower peaks this weekend, and apparently the prime viewing will be in the wee hours of tonight/tomorrow morning. Apparently it's a big weekend for these things, as they add, "The Orionids are one of four minor meteor showers underway this weekend, though the Southern Taurids, Epsilon Geminids, and Leonis Minorids are all near the end of their periods and produce single digit meteor rates." Something to hold over sky watchers for the Geminids in December, which they say should peak at up to around two meteors per minute.

Meteoric Links: Thanks Ant.
Play: Battle Golf Online.
Links: Quaker Apples & Cinnamon has ~35% less sugar: because they've cut the portion size by 35%, while the price remains 100%.
Story: Trump plans to release JFK assassination documents despite concerns from federal agencies.
Science: Elon Musk’s Boring Company is digging a 10-mile tunnel in Maryland.
Media: StarCrafts Season 5 Ep 26 The Fall (part 2) and (part 3).
GET A HOBBY: Work with ROCKS and CEMENT like JOHN DUNSWORTH.
How drug companies make you buy more medicine than you need.
Follow-up: Judge Won't Release Bail Money to Jailed Martin Shkreli.

#1 thing the sheeple should ask themselves when horrific things occur: Who benefits?

When you use "sheeple," you already sound like a lunatic. Plus, you've offered no evidence, just claimed it exists, and there's plenty of evidence none existed at all. It's clear that the North Tower starts collapsing at the point of impact from the planes. Do you think they had bombs on those floors, too?

Your theory is lunacy and an insult to all who died there. You have no evidence, and just want some big evil involved. Worse, your theory seems to still support that terrorists flew the planes, so you think EVERYONE is involved and evil.

When people are talking about controlled demolition of the WTC, they're often talking about building 7, which was not struck by a plane. Rather it sustained structural damage from falling debris and caught fire, collapsing hours later. Interestingly no steel frame structure had ever collapsed from a fire up to that point, further fueling conspiracy theories.

Building 7 had a very tall, gaping wound, followed by hundreds of thousands of tons of concrete falling right next to it, creating quite the localized earthquake on its foundation.

The proof so many cling to is the fire department saying "pull it," which they think meant the demolition, but to anyone sane and rational meant the fire suppression operation. Plus, why would the fire teams know about the explosives, why would they be making the call, and why would they be silent as so many of them die of cancer without getting the insurance and care they all so desperately need?

Right, I'm not defending it, just explaining the origin. I'm sure all the destruction was caused by the two aircraft alone.

The thing is that if there had been some kind of conspiracy, it would have involved 100s of people and it would have leaked by now.

I know you're not, I'm just getting ahead of anyone coming in who is.

Yeah, I shortcut it for all of them including Obama. Now, if I ever had the misfortune of meeting Trump, I would without a doubt show respect to the office and refer to him as President Trump.

Soooo, the military industrial complex organized and executed the 9/11 attacks? Because they benefited the most, to the tune of one trillion dollars.

I've benefitted from a whole lot of things in my life that I had nothing to do with. The world is full of opportunists. It doesn't mean they created every opportunity. If you want anyone to listen, you need actual evidence that holds up to scrutiny.

It's not a "fear of believing in conspiracies." It's placing a value on reasoning and evidence over wild speculation.

Also, that Quaker Oats link is fake news, to steal a term. The package size shrank, but it's comparing sugar per ounce, not sugar per packet.

Maybe, it is because many of the conspiracies theories are about conspiracies. Someone or a group of people conspired to kill JFK, a group of people conspired to fly a couple of planes into the World Trade Center (and from a lot evidence, plant bombs in the lower levels). Is it really that hard to believe that billionaires and people in power are willing commit heinous acts to keep their power?

There's literally zero evidence of bombs on lower levels. "A lot" means idiotic YouTube videos, right?

None. Not a tiny shred of that evidence. Please stop.

a group of people conspired to fly a couple of planes into the World Trade Center (and from a lot evidence, plant bombs in the lower levels).

But don't worry about facts, especially the fact that there is no evidence.

Claim #1: The towers collapsed exactly like controlled demolitions.
FACT: No they did not. The key to any demolition investigation is in finding out the “where”—the actual point at which the building failed. All photographic evidence shows World Trade Center buildings 1 and 2 failed at the point of impact. Actual implosion demolitions always start with the bottom floors. Photo evidence shows the lower floors of WTC 1 and 2 were intact until destroyed from above.

Claim #2: But they fell straight down into their own footprint.
FACT: They did not. They followed the path of least resistance and there was a lot of resistance. Buildings of 20 stories or more do not topple over like trees or reinforced towers or smokestacks. Imploding demolitions fall into a footprint because lower stories are removed first. WTC debris was forced out away from the building as the falling mass encountered intact floors.

Claim #3: Explosive charges are seen shooting from several floors just prior to collapse.
FACT: No, air and debris can be seen being violently ejected from the building—a natural and predictable effect of rapid structure collapse.

Claim #4: Steel-frame buildings do not collapse due to fire.
FACT: Many steel-framed buildings have collapsed due to fire

There's much more, you get the drift.

Conspiracy theories do not hold up when critical thinking is applied.
