Out of the Blue

Today is opening day for the NBA season. I predict a strong start for the Knicks, as they don't tip-off their first game until Thursday, so it will be at least two days before they're in last place. Hope the prospects for your team are at least as optimistic.

R.I.P.: John Dunsworth, Mr. Lahey on Trailer Park Boys, dead at 71.

Links: Thanks Ant.
Play: Uphill Climb Racing 2.
Pumpkins of the Dead.
Story: Trump drug czar nominee withdraws.
Science: What cosmic crash confirmed: Einstein was as good as gold.
Media: Firefighting strike grp respond to Sonoma wildfire to find...
Koi Feeding.

Hell, I'm a liberal who dislikes SJWs. Identity politics is toxic at its core. It's inherently flawed because it says that you cannot possibly understand someone unless you share that identity. If they are telling me I can't and will never understand them, then why should I listen to anything they have to say?

There are other toxic elements: the in-group compartmentalizing, purity tests, and a sort of reputation management where you have to say or do the right things or be shunned from your group. The alt-right claims to be against these things, but they are just a new even more vile version of identity politics. Essentially they are SJWs who only care about justice for the white conservative identity.

You can't unify people to get things done if you're too busy splitting into sub-factions and fighting amongst yourselfs in the oppression Olympics. That's where the conservatives have a really unfortunate advantage. The white identity group, if it can be mobilized, holds all the institutional power.

Identity politics works for the right because they lack true diversity, but it doesn't work for us.

It's horrible and tragic. At the same time, it's also kind of funny because the alt-right, MRA, GGer, T_D types love calling everyone leftist pedophiles, so it's a bit fun to see them distance themselves from a guy who used to be influential to them and uses the exact rhetoric they do.

The hypocrisy they exhibit while doing so is pretty astonishing. They cry about Antifa and #PunchANazi saying "It could cause violence! Someones going to get hurt!" but do nothing to acknowledge their own hateful rhetoric's impact on society.

It's no different than some mosque filling young Muslims hungry for meaning in their life with a bunch of hateful garbage. The right wing loves to bitch about that, and then spend their time doing the same thing.

People armed with lies, hate, and bad incentives are very dangerous, regardless of the source of those things.

So far, the anti-SJWs shot a guy in Seattle, ran over a girl in Charlottesville, and stormed into a pizza parlor armed to the teeth intending to start firing. Oh, yeah, they also maced themselves. And now killed a father.

So far, the #punchanazi crowd hasn't done any of this.

I'm not saying people deserve to be lumped in with someone simply because they hold similar political views, but the rhetoric is identical and the rhetoric was the unifying theme behind all that violence. There are people here that dislike liberals and/or "SJWs." I wouldn't lump them in with the violence, not even close to it. But if they start discussing pizza parlors full of pedophiles, or start complaining about how Wolfenstein is a personal attack on them, I do start to wonder.

I'm not so sure it was "so long", I heard one report during the Sonoma fires that the wind was 68 mph. It seems to have been a bit of a "perfect storm" situation...

Jesus fuck.

That video was like a post apocalyptic movie set or something. I wonder what took them so long to call those engines up from Berkeley. By the time they arrived so much was already gone.

Yeah that's some absolutely stunning shit. I live in the Pacific NW in an area that doesn't really get wildfires. All we have to worry about up here is the occasional volcano, or the Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake that's supposed to be some ridiculous 9.5 whenever it happens. No hurricanes, no tornados, no wildfires. Any kind of extreme weather or natural disaster is pretty rare up here.

Very thankful I don't have to live the nightmare some of those people must be going through.

Well, I heard the victim was wearing a short skirt/went to the wrong neighborhood/said the word "socialist"/had a couple of beers/forgot to lock the door. He was totally asking for it.

You know those fantastic photos on Windows 10's login and lock screens? I figured out how to turn them into desktop wallpapers.

1. Go into this folder: C:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Local\Packages\ Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets.
2. Copy everything from that folder to another folder. Deleting anything under 140K is safe.
3. Run command prompt.
4. Navigate to the folder and type: ren *.* *.jpg
5. Any images that are 1920 x 1080 is good to go. You can delete the 1080 x 1920. Not sure what the purpose is for those photos.

It was funny seeing Dunsworth playing a relatively normal guy on Haven, after having seen him as Lahey. Of course his character there did take a turn towards the weird later on.

Shithawks, are coming, Bubbles.

I wasn't a particular fan of that show but Dunsworth was an excellent actor.

Firefighting video was unbelievable.

I wonder if I can find any other videos of how fast it swept through that area.. What I found weird was how many trees still looked untouched but everything around them was gone. Like I saw green thistles on a lot of those trees bordering the road..

People in the USA are just starting to know what "Trailer Park Boys" is thanks to Netflix..

It's been a staple of hilarious canadian comedy for a while up in the great white north.. Mr. Lahey is a fantastic character in the show and John Dunsworth was a great actor and just a really nice guy all around. Sad day yesterday with his loss..

Do a Lahey chug in his memory.
