A tweet from Overwatch has a quick video on the success of Overwatch, Blizzard's multiplayer shooter for Windows and consoles. The clip shows Dr. Junkenstein with the following quote: "35 million players and counting... Cheers, mates!" The body of the tweet paraphrases a Junkrat tag line: "What a bunch of misfits and freaks we got here—we love it! Thanks for teaming up with us, heroes."

That seems like an odd argument, or are those two sentences supposed to be unrelated?

Not at all, just that a huge majority of people who bought the game have moved on. Less than 1 million active players across three platforms it was released on worldwide seems like a likely estimate to me. My friends list consisted of 100 players for overwatch alone at one point, and there are perhaps 4-8 max ever playing the game anymore, with the same few folks usually consisting of the low number. I just extrapolate the estimate from that, while taking into account that the game also has multiple regions and platforms.
