Thanks to over 7 million of you who have played Fortnite! We want to keep the Battle Bus flying, so Duos and Supply Drops are available NOW.

I find it difficult to believe 7 million installed and played Fortnite, free weekend or not. I've seen popular Steam games with a lot more market penetration (who uses Epic's client again?) and advertising fail to put up those numbers over a longer period of time. Smells like a headline for the sake of PR.
It was on XBOX as well

So, these morons are tallying the player count from the free weekend they just had. Isn't that just big of them to boast of those numbers when in fact, half of those who played it will not ever play it again since the free weekend is now over.
Hate companies that lie about the numbers when in reality they are not what they are saying they are.

but I guess all of the complaints from PUBG devs kind of made people want to check it out more, knowing it was possibly a more polished and less serious take on PUBG.

Regardless of free weekend or otherwise, 7M is a lot. If half don't come back, that still leaves 3.5M, which is a huge active community. Huge.

When did it actually become free? Tried to try it a month ago and it insisted I buy an Early Access pack of a variety of prices.
[edit] Oh, the Battle Royale pvp is free

The casual aspect is fun...and fast matches make it easy to jump in and play a bit. My only issue with it is the umbrella phase.... Something about it is off and I can't put my finger on the mechanic that ruins it for me. I can't remember the last time I beat another group to the ground to start hoovering up weapons.
