Out of the Blue

There's Thursday Night Football in the works, so poolers, don't forget your picks. Since both of our pools drop everyone's worst week, this also gives a last chance to get in on the ground floor if you aren't already in. If you want, head over to the pick-em league (password bn) and/or the spread league (password bn2) and join in. I think I'm almost over the trauma of opening night for the Giants.

Picky Links: Thanks Ant and Acleacius.
Play: Angry Snakes.
Story: Flying coach is a ‘life-and-death’ concern.
Science: Alarming Study Indicates Why Certain Bacteria Are More Resistant to Drugs in Space
Media: How 9/11 changed Disney's Lilo & Stitch.
Casting Out Nines - Numberphile.
Unexpected surprise sitting in bike path.
Follow-up: The new study suggesting sitting will kill you is kind of a raging dumpster fire.
Here Are Cassini's Best Images Of Saturn. Thanks RedEye9.
Martin Martin Shkreli is headed to jail.
The Funnies: Brevity.

In related news, Shkreli narrowly retakes the lead from Ajit Pai as the most punchable man in America. Ajit, your move.

Stop stealing other people's comments, or at least credit other people for them.
Normally I do, I just wanted to see who got triggered.

I don't like any pharmaceutical executives, mostly because I believe that big pharma is just a legalized crime syndicate, and I'm not a fan of Hillary Clinton either, but if we have devolved to the point where plucking a hair can be construed as "assault", then we have clearly steered down the path towards becoming mindless cattle, much like judge Matsumoto, who has obviously already achieved that status.

I think had he said that he was going to pluck hair from Hillary Clinton's head, he probably would have had a little "ahem" from the Secret Service and that would have been it, but he stated he would pay $5000 for a hair off her head, at which point it becomes solicitation to assault.

In any case, fuck this guy.

Putting your hands on anyone without their permission is the definition of assault. He was inciting people to commit a felony - so fucking yeah he should be sitting in the can.

Flying coach is a ‘life-and-death’ concern.

Seats are now so close together, according to Flyers Rights, that they render the “brace for impact” position depicted in airline safety manuals ineffective, thereby subjecting passengers to head trauma.
...
neither the FAA or Boeing knows how long it would take for passengers on a full 737 — the most common aircraft, and one most used for cramped Coach accommodations — to evacuate the plane

Free market FTW, amirite?
