PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS Passes 1M CCUs

The Steam: Game and Player Statistics page shows another milestone for PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, the runaway hit battle royale game (thanks Eurogamer). The list shows the game hit a peak concurrent player count of 1,028,540 today. Just last month PUBG recorded the second-highest CCU count in Steam history, so this just adds to that mark. It remains to be seen if it can unseat Dota 2 for the all time CCU record, which Steam Charts says was 1,291,328 players playing the MOBA at once in March 2016.

Still loving the game at almost 400 hours, probably another 200 in BETA, maybe another 100 ALPHA.

Getting harder to win but having a blast anyway.

BRING ON THE NEW MAP!

/My top solo rank was 586

I never understood people making this comment... I get you might not like the game, but randomness is not a problem. I would say, over 90% of the time I can get fully loaded up on gear I'm happy with.

What I have noticed is that people tend to focus too much of getting gear rather than strategically positioning themselves when the map shrinks. They have to sprint to get in the boundary and get picked off in the process.

Already burnt out on this game. Just far too repetitive. This is just another flash in the pan survival game that will fade away soon as the next great game hits.

Odd I see people in the thread that like the sniping, I find that is the biggest issue with the game, far too easy to snipe.

You need more than 2 hours in this game. It's not as random as it seems. Did you play Arma/Operaption Flashpoint? Same techniques apply. You can mitigate risks. Use ridges, hedgerows to keep a low profile. Avoid buildings unless fairly certain they are clear. Watch the circle, don't ever let yourself be forced to move. Be patient.

Don't open fire unless you can complete the kill or want enemy to go to ground while you make a move. I suck at this as well but you buildup a toolset of good practices that will get you to top 10 no worries, and eventually a win.

Also start each round spicy, land where others land and try and get into some early fights (A 2 barreled shotty and 10 rounds is enough to ruin 3-4 peoples game). It's good practice and warm up and will help you feel like you don't need to break cover unnecessary later on. You start losing most but will end up winning most very quickly, which gets you a good headstart. Early game is best time for fights as you have a lot of time before circle becomes an issue. Later on you want assassinations, not gun-battles.

This is just me though, I'm no pro, and rarely win fights when scopes are involved, but this style of play gets me long, rewarding games with a handful of kills so I don't feel like I wasted 30 minutes hiding only to give someone else a win.

Also there is 100 players. Until you've lost 101 games in a row no need to feel too bad.

Very well put sir! I love this game more than almost any other FPS I've played in the past 10 years! I like the sniping and love the fact that you can actually hide out to snipe people. Ghillie Suits (spelling?) are actually useful in this game! You can lay down in the middle of field and be almost impossible to spot lol!

I like 2 man teams the best, one sniper and one spotter/cover fire. Setup shop in a high spot, a good roof top is perfect until circle becomes an issue and once it does, just relocate and setup again. A good sniper always relocates! Have your teammate cover your ass and you'll be picking people off in no time! If you do it well, they won't even know where the shots are coming from!

I've had decent luck getting matched up randomly. As Numinar said, they enforce rules prety strictly and bans are no fun so people are generally decent, at least as far as the interwebs is concerned!

I should buy this. I'd probably never play though 'cause I'm a lone wolf (pup).

Solo is great too. No worries about downing people, it's just straight up kills. In team modes, if you "kill" someone, it puts them in down-but-not-out status and they can be revived by team mates, but in solo it's a straight kill.

Plus you can auto-match with squads or a partner, and 90% of the time they're cool. There's bannably-enforced rules about TKing and such, so them being douchebags can cost them.
