So it's September already? This seems especially distressing here in the
BlueTower, since it serves as a reminder of how our moving process has dragged
on, as we started gearing up to move at some point in January. How protracted
this has become is in even stronger focus, since this is also the Labor Day
weekend here in the U.S.A., which marks the unofficial end of summer. The good
news is that we are close to ready to put the house on the market, but there's
even more downside, as the house we were most excited about possibly buying is
now listed as "pending," so our delay has probably cost us this opportunity.

Hey y'all. I'm looking for some glasses I can wear to magnify my monitor so I can put the text smaller and get more screen real estate.

It's in the 50's up here in the finger lakes this morning, with mid-sixties high. In southern california it's gonna be over 100 again still.

Sorry, I wasn't more precise in my issue: I don't wear glasses at all, don't have a prescription and don't really need one. But focusing on things close is getting more difficult now that my eyes are almost 50 years old. I can read my Kindle without reading glasses, but it's much easier and more relaxing to do so with reading glasses these days, so I do. So I was looking for something I could use with my monitor, as it's just out of range for reading glasses.

JD, you don't mention if you need per-scription peekers or just plain readers.
I get a 3 pack of tough readers at my local dollar store for about $10 bucks. They ain't stylish but who cares.
You are probably at the age that a visit to the ophthalmologist is not such a bad idea, just to make sure your orbs are healthy.

Nope, because he calls it a conspiracy, yet, weirdly, no one denies that this happens.
Lots of estrogen in our water, too. Stuff gets peed out... but not a conspiracy. Alex Jones has literally never been right. He occasionally gets the what, which is easy because it's in the news all the time, but he's literally never once gotten the why.

It annoys me that I know who Alex Jones is.
I saw a segment* on his show about Osteen recently, and despite being inclined to agree with the general sentiment, the whole thing was off putting. The guy doesn't just come off as an ill informed raving lunatic, but seemed very inauthentic to me, just looking to jump off into the deep-end with whatever topic one of his listeners with anger management issues called about. He's a nutcase, but he's also a charlatan.

Um, it's been known for a couple decades that drugs have been entering the water supply via sewage treatment and other means. Here's an article from 2008, for example.
You need to consume a better variety of media.
And for those of you who want a good laugh, John Oliver gave Alex Jones the treatment a couple of weeks ago.

It's funny, when his wife filed for divorce, claiming she didn't want her children raised with a daily diet of right-wing lunacy (A Jones works from home), that's exactly what Alex told the court: "It's an act! I'm not really that way!"

They have computer glasses that filter blue light. Or just get a pair of readers from a dollar store or drug store. Weakest ones should do you fine.

that segment really exposed jones as nothing but a snake oil salesman scamming the idiot right wingers. it's really somewhat brilliant - he feeds and confirms their paranoia and they're 'supporting' the cause by buying his products. i had no idea he sold his own line of household goods until oliver's segment. apparently the products are his primary business, but no one bought them until he started spewing the conspiracy theory bullshit. i'm pretty sure he doesn't believe what he's spewing, he's just happy to take their money. 21st century version of a faith healer/televangelist.
