FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Announced

Square Enix announces they are bringing FINAL FANTASY XV to PCs with the FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION early next year. They say the Windows version will contain PC-specific enhancements, and the GeForce website dives into this in detail, and offers this trailer with a look at the game running at 4K resolution. Here's a bit on the plan:
The Final Fantasy series is one of the best-selling videogame franchises of all time, with over 135 million copies sold worldwide. Each release employs the highest possible production values and pushes the limit of game technology with cutting-edge effects, massive worlds, and the latest rendering techniques. Last November, the critically-acclaimed FINAL FANTASY XV launched on current-gen consoles, and today at a special NVIDIA event at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Square Enix’s FINAL FANTASY XV Director, Hajime Tabata, made a surprise appearance to unveil FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION.

To achieve the creation of this highest-end edition of FINAL FANTASY XV, Square Enix has partnered with NVIDIA to integrate several of the world’s best real-time visual effects, courtesy of our GameWorks library, in addition to ShadowPlay Highlights, NVIDIA Ansel, and GeForce Experience’s extensive suite of features. Take a first look below in the debut trailer for FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION, and keep on reading to learn more.

Indeed, and they seem to really put some effort into the ports as well... well, more or less effort, I am pretty sure we gonna need another "fixes something dll mod" for this game.

Hoping this FF offers mod support. It is the lifeblood of any game.

This does seem to be the quickest they've released a FF game on PC, which is a very nice change.

Visual enhancements are not gameplay enhancements. This is still just a console port.

Hopefully they'll release everything, including all the DLC, in one package.

I quite enjoyed FF15, though the later chapters get really very grim and bleak. The early open world part is a lot of fun, though.

Video looks pretty incredible. I wonder what kind of setup you'd need to run it that way, but phew.

From the Nvidia article:

"Post-launch console DLC (EPISODES GLADIOLUS, PROMPTO and IGNIS, as well as the FINAL FANTASY XV MULTIPLAYER EXPANSION: COMRADES) is included"

The ansel screenshots on that nvidia page are awesome.

Sweet, thanks man

Ugh...I bought my ps4 for this game but haven't really had a time I wasn't busy with other games to play much of it. I think im in like the 4th act. One thing that was making it hard was doing the hard dungeon crawls incurred reduced hp levels (no amount of avoiding would prevent this, simply getting hit would bring down your max hp of you and your party) requiring you to use elixirs. Elixirs aren't cheap and money in the game is finite. Most of your money is from monster hunts, something that you can't repeat. Done with monsters hunts? grinding monster trash loot is very slow money gains.

You can repeat monster hunts.

Me too! Even more so since I don't own a PS4.

Yes! I've wanted to play this ever since Kingsglaive.

I think this also demonstrates the profitability of the PC platform lead by Steam. I can't remember a time where Square-Enix released a FF game so quickly on PC.

I loved the first half of this game. Open world, full party, airship-equivalent given right away, tons of side quests, dungeons, and a cast that grows on you. Combat really opens up nicely once Noctis develops and you unlock a good chunk of his optional weapons.

Second half of the game is just forsaken potential. Story literally goes on rails, most of your party is missing/handicapped, you lose access to all your weapons/skills, no side quests, no dungeons, and final chapter is just "here is an item shop. Go fight the final boss." Final boss fight and resolution was passable at best. I liked it, but it has its flaws.

Was like playing every other Final Fantasy game backwards.

If only the game was any good, played it on PS4 b4 I started horizon zero dawn, which I like heaps better, if I played em the other way round I would probably not have finished FFxv.

Combat is terrible in this one.

Nice it's coming off the console. Sucks to have nvidia's special little fuckup package.
