The funny thing is that Nvidia rightfully gets called out for their bad behavior but people are always quiet when its AMD pulling this shit because "we need a competitor for Nvidia". Guess what, we still need a competitor for Nvidia because it sure as hell isn't AMD.

Vega is really disappointing in pretty much every aspect and the worst part is that even their fanboys won't be able to obtain one now.

That and their new drivers to optimize for Nicehash is just some scumbag shit from AMD. The whole launch in general was a fucking fiasco, drip drab marketing, innuendo, bullshit benchmarks and now this crap.

Have fun selling your blowdryer cards to miners I guess AMD.

Yeah I don't get the logic, in the long run this hurts AMD business across the entire AMD platform.. since miners don't buy AMD cpu's (what for?), they don't buy AMD mainboards (what for?), and they sure as hell don't buy AMD monitors (what for?).

Imo a GPU company that sells MORE than GPU's and depends on that for it's market share growth is just flat out stupid catering to miners at all. Especially with a card that's nearing 50 fucking db noise values... Vega 56 included... a card that is matched by the nearly 15 times less noisier 1070

The entire vega design is just meh imo. I am banking that the redesigns will change this cooling solution entirely though, and that might still make it a good card, a very hot card, but probably a lot less noisy.

I'm going to go with a dead-heat 56 vs 1070.

Can it get any closer with this 25 game avg?

A card I can buy right now (1070) vs a card I can't buy anywhere (VEGA 56) is not exactly a relevant comparison. And 40W extra power usage is a bit... well, meh.

No German tech shop has this card for sale, it's probably being bought up straight outside the factory by miners....

And that is not inherently bad, what it is however, is the typical shit-show of an AMD product launch. Today reviews are everywhere but the cards are nowhere to be found

yup. if you're going to get the 56 (i htink i will) you better have your finger on the trigger the moment they becom available on the 28th. as far as i can tell all vega 64s are already sold out.

Considering this

It's not hard to sell out when Newegg is only allocated 20 of them. Artificial scarcity.

Even Vega 56 is a turd in my opinion, Nvidia can prep an easy answer in no time flat and AMD has nowhere to go on performance with it. It's really only good for people who have a Freesync monitor and were desperate already.

Fucking Advanced Mining Devices, disappointment every time.

The water gets muddied fast when you start comparing a 7 year old 100+ watt gpu with current gen 75 watt video cards.
Suffice it to say that in general, a well designed multi fan card will be quieter than a similar single fan solution.
I don't want to hear noise or see RGB lights, hence a windowless R4 with sound absorbing padding, a huge tower cpu cooler and a 2-fan gtx660. Even my powersupply fan doesn't kick on unless things are really jamming.

Multiple fans. While at first thought it seems to go against logic, they are quieter if implemented correctly. Those single fan blowers have to ramp up to super high speeds to cool cards, and mostly require the fan to always be on. Multi-fan designs can spin at a slower speed (because of the increased cooling area where fans meet metal/copper heatsinks, and when the heatspreader is large enough that it requires multiple fans, they can do other cool stuff, like turning the fans off completely at idle. The fans on my GTX 980ti (MSI gaming 6g) turn off under a certain temp (like 50c or so) and the card passively cools itself to around 35c when idle. When the fans spin up it's hard to hear them unless they're at full power also, because they don't have to be hitting massive RPM's when there are multiple fans of decent quality on the GPU.

Multi-fan all the way.

Another advantage of going blower is that the reference design it comes with is often considered the most robust and uses the highest quality components. The AIBs tend to cut corners, but the best of the bunch is XFX/HIS followed by Sapphire.

The only time you should use a blower design is in a small form factor cases where larger coolers may prove problematic or exhaust too much hot air into the small case. My little NCase M1 is better off with a blower, for example.
Do you have a single fact to back that up?

If your case has the space, a multifan unit is more reliable and quieter. https://www.hardocp.com/news/2017/08/14/amd_confirms_prototype_triple_fan_for_vega_56
I prefer moar fans myself, my Fractal Design R4 has the room.

Yeah, I've got a Raven R3 with massive 18cm fans pulling air in and 4 12 cm fans pushing it out, so the extra heat in the case isn't a big concern for me. My 3-fan NVidia is pretty quiet too, and I hear reviewers complain about the buzzsaw sound that some GPUs make. Just wondering what the reasoning might be. NewMaxx explained pretty well: confined cases.

The former tend to have higher failure rates and higher case temperatures while the latter are better for confined spaces and multi-GPU but may be louder with hotter cards. Keep in mind the multi-fans are actually potentially louder than the blower style, but as they generally don't have to run as high of a duty cycle and have greater surface area they tend to actually be quieter in use.
