Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer Released

Blizzard announces the release of the Rise of the Necromancer expansion for Diablo III. This resurrects the Necromancer, the very popular playable class from Diablo II. This post has the patch notes for a new version 2.6.0 patch for the action/RPG to support the new release. Here's word:
Necromancers are grim spellcasters who draw upon the power of blood and bone and raise terrifying armies of undead minions from the remains of their vanquished foes. These brooding men and women are masters of the dark arts who seek to preserve the balance between the forces of life and death in Sanctuary—even if it requires detonating several thousand demon corpses along the way.

In addition to a new class, the Rise of the Necromancer pack contains a macabre assortment of curiosities to support any aspiring practitioner of forbidden magic, including:

  • The grotesque Half-formed Golem in-game pet
  • Cosmetic Wings of the Crypt Guardian for all your Diablo III characters
  • Two additional character slots
  • Two stash tabs (PC only)
  • Necromancer portrait, banner, sigil, and accent, and Blood Master pennant

Acolytes of the dark arts can also unearth the most closely guarded secrets of the Priests of Rathma by studying the Book of the Necromancer at Diablo3.com/Necro. This archive chronicles the shadowy history of the necromancers and contains a grimoire of their spells, runes, weapons, and armor—an ideal resource for anyone who plans to take the necromancer through the challenges that comprise the Season 11 journey, beginning July 20.

I'm only seeing 2 'areas' being included - and since they are barely mentioning them in the marketing blurbs, one can assume they are so small it wasn't even worth the time to bring it up...???



New Zones: The Moors & The Temple of the Firstborn
The fog-enshrouded Moors and the darkened Temple of the Firstborn can be explored in Adventure Mode through a new waypoint on the Act 2 map

two stash stabs in addition to the 10 total before, if you bothered to play Seasons 5 times? Bringing the total to 12?

Or Two stash tabs, up to a max of 10, for people like myself who ignored Seasons completely?

I'm halfway tempted to get this, but $15 seems like an insult.

When they first introduced WoW tokens they hinted towards offering more services tied to them at a future date but nothing concrete so I dumped a ton of gold in to them when they were 30 - 60k/each hoping that I'll be able to redeem them for something more than sub time.

Pretty happy about it especially now that the token is now fetching something like 140k.

Class feels and looks great as I level through the shit campaign since I am in no hurry and want to feel an organic progression to what was my favorite class of D2.

You are incorrect, there are three new areas.
Author of the Neverwinter Nights Eye of the Beholder Series of Mods.
Now integrated into Steams NWN: Enhanced Edition

So originally Diablo 3 planned a fresh take on classes with bringing zero back from the first games. They might of forgot the Barbarian was in Diablo 3. Then the Monk was in Diablo Hellfire (not same style though and wasn't Blizzard specifically involved with that, but still), and now Necro is back.

Sometimes I hate when people complaining of having the same thing in a sequel, but then request bringing back old things... Can never win.

Pretty cool class. Shoulda been in from the start, but it has a lot of interesting mechanics going on. Maybe too many?
