I thought there already was lots of lesser clones of this kinda game?

And Minecraft was an Infiniminer clone...yet we have a shitload of inferior clones after the fact.

(fun facts: the latter essentially failed because it was mod-unfriendly, while PUB was based off an Arma 3 mod)

They are also going to be mod friendly and the zombie addition is a mod someone already created for PUBG. Coming in an update soon. Not interested in zombie mode.....

its basically the fruition of the phenomena that DayZ started, but never managed to fully capitalize on or manifest in any significant way

nobody really gives a shit about the zombies, except the devs - i think that was the problem - same for all the interim clones

Whatever, devs struck lightning, good for them. It could have just as easily gone the other way. I wish I had that kind of luck.

Trollol.

There was a lot of untapped sales there...look how successful KOTK has been and that game is a complete mess that gets worse every patch.

I've been wondering for years why a AAA company hasn't tried their hand at it, but they'd rather keep regurgitating the same shit over and over.

Well done bluehole. It's amazing what you guys have done with 30 staff in such a small amount of time...

Provided you can make it through Steam's horrific marketplace posting system. "You didn't download our app and give us EXTRA personal information, so your posting will be on hold for 15 days, after which your item will be posted without regard to any price fluctuation."

After hearing so much about its popularity its success isn't surprising. The user base was a bit surprising though perhaps shouldn't have been.

I wonder how long until China is the main consumer for most "western" games and at what point does that become possibly the main focus and influence on design.

Could be interesting to see, along with the reactions and realisations, by some.
