Far Cry 5 in February

Ubisoft officially announces Far Cry 5, saying the first-person shooter sequel is "coming to America's heartland" on February 27, 2018. This confirms the recently revealed setting of Hope, Montana, a fictional county in the allegedly actual state, where you will take on a group of armed cultists. There's more on this in the UbiBlog, where they offer information along with this interview trailer with details on the game and how difficult it may be to survive the game's environment. They also have an official announce trailer that sets the tone for the game. They also feature some trailers introducing some of the characters you will team up with your resistance against the cult: Mary May, Pastor Jerome Jeffries, and Nick Rye. Here's the announcement:
Today, Ubisoft® announced that gamers will experience the chaos, unpredictability and ferociousness of the Far Cry franchise with Far Cry® 5 on PlayStation®4 Pro computer entertainment system, PlayStation®4, the Xbox One family of devices, including Project Scorpio, and Windows PC. Set in America for the first time, in Montana, players will have total freedom to navigate this serene-looking yet deeply twisted world solo or entirely in two-player co-op as they fight for survival and freedom, when the game releases on February 27, 2018. Development for Far Cry 5 is being led by Ubisoft Montreal*.

As the new junior deputy of fictional Hope County, Montana, players will find that their arrival accelerates a years-long silent coup by a fanatical doomsday cult, the Project at Eden's Gate, igniting a violent takeover of the county. Caught off guard and drawn into a power struggle, players must disrupt the carefully laid plans of the Project at Eden’s Gate and fan the fires of resistance to help liberate the Hope County community and themselves.

Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world, players will join forces with residents of Hope County and form the Resistance. The fight against the cult will take players to unique locations throughout Hope County that provide different gameplay experiences. During their journey, players can fly planes to engage cult forces in aerial dogfights across Big Sky Country. While tracking down cult members and gathering resources for survival across farmland, forests, mountains and rivers, players can get behind the wheel of iconic American muscle cars, big rigs, ATVs and boats. Vehicles also provide refuge when under attack by animals or as a way to quickly escape when things don’t go as planned.

To take down the cult, players will need to utilize any and all weapons at their disposal, including ranged weapons such as guns and grenades and melee weapons like a sledgehammer or baseball bat. Additionally, players can recruit Guns for Hire from a large cast of characters, or even Fangs for Hire, specialized animals like bears and cougars to complement players’ playstyles whether they’re going in stealthily or forcefully. How players approach each situation and the chaos they create in Far Cry 5 is up to them. Far Cry 5 will also see the return of the map editor, giving players the opportunity to create and play an infinite amount of new playgrounds. The map editor will include new features that add a new dimension to the content created by fans, with more details coming soon.

Additionally, players on PlayStation®4 system will get free content with purchase of the game at launch. Players on Xbox and PC systems will have the same content available through the Ubisoft Club.

And I'm pretty sure most weapons of war have been thought up and created by scientists for non-religious reasons. Archimedes used his prowess in mathematics, physics, engineering, and invention to create weapons of war. For example, the Claw of Archimedes decimated the Roman Republic during the Siege of Syracuse between 214-212 BC. In other words, don't act like science is innocent of bloodshed and races to created scientific inventions did not result in the death of billions.
If you can't grasp the difference between technological advancement and war then I pity you.

I can. Technological advances and war are synonymous with one another. You can see it all throughout history. Slings and spears gave rise to swords, bows, and arrows, and so on and so forth; with each iteration becoming more deadly and lethal than the last. Almost all of the today's technology is the result of military application; whether for offense or defense. The modern computer was created to code break the Nazi Enigma machine. Those machines, themselves, were technological marvels at the time. The math formula for each key pressed could be described as:

E = P(p^i Rp^-i) (p^j Mp^-j) (p^k Lp^-k) U(p^k L^-1 p^-k)(p^j M^-1p^-j)(p^iR^-1p^-i)P^-1

The Internet was created in response to the nuclear threat during the Cuban missile crisis. The need was to create separate but interconnected hubs so that in the event one or many went down; the remaining could operate unimpeded. But none of that is more egregious than the creation of the atomic bomb. It was the pinnacle of humanity's inhumanity to humankind. And yes, it was entirely a "Science Holy War" because the men who worked on it invoked God or gods in their thought process, but not enough to stop their actions. Robert Oppenheimer most famously stated, " I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." I suppose we all thought that, one way or another." Scientists have created monsters of invention; some for good, others for ill but all it theirs.

None of that has anything to do with religion. However, bloodthirsty fanatics have seized upon technology to cause great harm to people. Wise King Solomon lamented this fact when he wrote, "All of this I have seen . . . that man has dominated man to his harm." (Ecclesiastes 8:9)

That is probably the dumbest thing I've read all morning. Luke 22:36-38 for one. Why have a sword if you aren't going to use it to defend yourself? Turning the other cheek is a deescalation response. It is NOT to allow someone to kill your child in front of you and to do nothing to prevent it. Only an idiot would believe Jesus would accept that.

And a Christian would not take a sword, but a shield. Does "Thou shalt not kill" ring a bell? Exactly, one of the ten commandments, the very center of Christian belief.

Hey and guess what, I've told dead baby jokes before! I guess that makes me as bad as a christian who has bombed a clinic somehow?

If the USA was "the most Christian country in the world", then there would not be no murder at all. Christians are supposed to NOT defend themselves, but to turn the other cheek when being slapped in the face. I know, I know, not very healthy and not typical human behavior. But love and peace are the very center of Christian religion. Therefore, just like socialism, the Christian religion has many great ideas and ideals but is far, far away from the real world and the typcal ape behavior of homo sapiens.

Ah, whatever. As a very lovely and intelligent girl tells me very often: "Enjoy the sunshine, adore every flower - this makes life worth living." Good approach - concentrate on the small things and forget about our world being driven by greed and the lust for power. It works until shit hits the fan right infront of you.

You shouldn't stereotype. That's very intolerant.

And yet every day a Christian murders someone in America. So you're also stereotyping.

Or you're reading the word "all" where it wasn't written. Fact: Christians are violent as a whole, as are virtually all groups of man, but not all Christians are.

Im pretty sure that's an intepretation. You know, as in you are making it up as you go along. Hate is never OKAY. Because if you go down that road, you end up with a religious crusade on your hands. I should know, I lived through the fall of a nation that disintegrated due to HATRED. (Based on nationality, and religion)

Ah, the new testament. Great collection of stories, too. The apostles met to democratically decide what is true (and becomes part of the new testament) and what is not. Later, congregations changed parts of the story. Also, there were discussions on interpretations of the written text (like: did Jesus have a wallet or not?). Again: as long as people don't think that the new testament is true word for word and understand that it is just a guideline, it is alright. As soon as people take it (or any other religious text/tale) word for word, things get messy. A lot of what was right and fit into daily life thousands of years ago is nowadays obsolete, it does not fit into the modern world anymore.

But all of you believe what you want, just don't kill people or in any way interfere with people who don't.

Ah, the old testament! That wonderful mix of old legends and tales, written down (and changed) by sooo many authors/storytellers for this collection of stories. Some based on history, some old tales. In some cases the original versions have been found in Babylon (like about the Great Flood, but it had a different hero and some story elements have been changed later by the guy who worked on it for the collection of stories aka old testament). It is funny that some people believe in it word for word - not even the people thousands of years ago did this.

I don't see how that supports your argument.

In reference to Agent-Zero, it doesn't. There's a clear distinction between true Christianity (1%) and the fake forms of it (99%). It's not hard to identify the 99% because virtually all are sects of Roman Catholicism. It's pretty telling when many were reluctant to accept the Nicene Creed issued at the Council of Nicaea in 325. As Britannica states, "[incorporating] the nonscriptural word homoousios (“of one substance”) into a creed (the Nicene Creed) to signify the absolute equality of the Son with the Father." That was the catalyst for the Trinity doctrine; nearly 300 years after the last apostle died. They even tried to establish a date for Easter; a then pagan festival in honor to the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring and fertility (the rabbit is the most recognized symbol for this). Many were opposed to the Nicene Creed and began to voice their opposition to it. Do you know how this was resolved? By killing the priests and religious leaders who didn't agree and went along. It was forced submission to the rule of the doctrine these men fabricated outside the scriptures and Jesus teachings.

By about the 7th century Christianity had become one of the most violent religions in the world. The only reason Muhammad began his quest to create a new religion was a direct result of the hypocrisy he saw in both Judaism and Christianity. Had Christianity remained faithful to the original teachings of Christ and those found within the scriptures, I'm pretty sure Islam wouldn't exist today; nothing to speak of the hundreds, if not, thousands of Christian sects today.

The core tenets of Christendom today are based on human-made creations: Trinity, hellfire, Easter, Christmas, and so forth. None of that was found in Jesus' teachings or the Bible.

In addressing the scribes and Pharisees of his day (much like the religious leaders today) Jesus scolded them with, "you have made the word of God invalid because of your tradition." (Matthew 15:6)

That's the form of Christianity many hate. It is also the form of Christianity that I hate.

I don't see how that supports your argument. The Christian text is largely peaceful and passive, but its followers go to war readily enough and they insult people, despite a clear injunction not to. There's a history of brutality by large populations of Christians. And on the flip side it doesn't seem to me that the Islamic text, whether it was originally created by a warlord or intended for conquest, has such enormous bearing on whether Muslim nations or people are warlike today.

Belief in such a being has led to nearly every evil mankind has ever known. But we've never had a "Science Holy War."
