Fallout 4 Free Weekend

Bethesda.net announces a free weekend will get underway tomorrow for the Windows and Xbox One editions of Fallout 4. They include a new trailer to celebrate the news, and explain that the post-apocalyptic RPG sequel is also going on sale:

This weekend you can explore everything a post-nuclear Boston has to offer with the first-ever Fallout 4 Free Weekend. From May 25 to 28, Xbox Live Gold Members and Steam users will be able to play all of Fallout 4's base content and try out Mods for free.

In tandem, Steam, PlayStation Store and Xbox Live will offer savings for Fallout 4's base game and Season Pass, with discounts up to 67% off.

Actually I had it running fine on an ancient Q6700 with 4 GB of RAM and a 4 GB RX470, installed on a SSD.

did anyone ever come up with some mods to really flesh out the settlement mechanic? like roving invaders, etc.

seems like it might be possible to do a kind of FPS 4X or something if you fleshed out enough of those mechanics... faction wars, allied armies, diplomacy, resource harvesting and territory acquisition/defense, etc.

My world is pretty funny. I have caravan routes to and from damn near EVERYTHING that allows it. hehehehe

Sim settlements is probably as close as you'll get for now. The author isn't done working on it either, so if you think you want to add a 4x mechanic talk to them.

Ha, I don't have enough RAMs on my ancient gaming box to try it.
It'll run on 2GB with lots of disk thrashing. The real killers are godrays and shadows in the game, if you disable and mess around a bit with the GLOD and LOD, even olde rigs will get along with it.

I just spent the better part of a day loading nearly 200 plugins for this since I've decided to do a Survival playthrough.

LOOT is a life saver.
