Out of the Blue

On Tuesday I mentioned how seasonably mild the spring has been so far in these parts. Yesterday it was 90-or-so degrees here. I'm tempted superstitiously decide that this was influenced by my words. But then there's yesterday when I complained about the ineptitude of my New York Knickerbockers. This is one of at least a dozen or so rants I've had on the topic over the years, and they haven't won a championship since 1973. So if my words have any power, it's only working in the wrong direction.

He apparently did suffer from depression.

most musicians do, and thats one of the reasons performers do it in the first place, to get external validation.. and most artists in general are usually tormented in some way, which is why they are driven to be so creative and try to transform or avoid or distract from those feelings

also Cornell was a known addict.. hes been off an on for years

On another note, the Trek Trailer is really awful. Doesn't mean the series is going to be awful, but I dunno. Kind of gives me Abrams vibes, which is not good. I do like the look of the Klingons though, I hope they are more than just the boogeyman, and have depth just like in all the previous Trek TV series.

yeh it looks pretty bad... im also tired of all these assholes trying to take the easy way out with prequels - and bypassing any attempt to be inclusive to all the established lore and storylines of an established franchise, while still retaining the franchise fan base and world building thats already been done for them

frankly its bullshit and also doesnt bode well for quality work going forward

people can call me whatever for this, but i think its probably going to be a strongly female-centric show - as opposed to Voyager, which had a few female leads as well as the captain, but was basically just another ST show.... honestly I think the new "trendy" "hotness" is somehow trying to pander to the female sci-fi crowd, ala Star Wars and so on

personally i think pandering to any crowd is bullshit and a wrong move, so we'll see what happens...
