Middle-earth: Shadow of War Trailer

A new trailer from Middle-earth: Shadow of War shows off the open world in the upcoming Tolkien-inspired sequel that's expected on August 25th. They explain every environment in the new game will be larger than in its predecessor:

The video introduces viewers to the vast environments within Middle-earth, stretching beyond Mordor, and giving fans the first glimpse of various new environments to explore, including the Island of Nurn, Cirith Ungol, Gorgoroth and more. Through the innovative Nemesis System, every player experiences a unique world to explore and share and every area of the world is larger, more varied and more dynamic than ever before.

Set between the events of The Hobbit™ and The Lord of the Rings™, Middle-earth: Shadow of War™ is an open-world action RPG that continues the original narrative of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor™. Players will be engrossed in a richer, more personal and expansive world full of epic heroes and villains, iconic locations, original enemy types, more personalities and a new cast of characters with untold stories.

Personally much rather play Lord of the Rings Online than this to get my Gandalf or Frodo kick.

I'd think it's hard to deny that this game got very repetitive before its end, but somehow people here don't seem to have a problem doing so.

Yes, the combat was good but it was also easy AF. Who of you really needed that army the entire game was about getting? The storytelling was mediocre and once you turned your first 10 orcs and assassinated 3 others, you knew it was all rinse/repeat until the end. No more surprises after the first "tutorial" map.

The game was fun but to me almost felt like a prototype showing off the nemesis system. The early PR on this game was criminal, as well, showing off complicated nemesis sequences that never ever even remotely happened.

For what was there it was fun to play for me. It wasn't an overly long game so the repetitiveness didn't become a problem for me and this is a common problem I bring up in games. There was more than the first 10 orcs. If you didn't die the difficulty didn't ramp up, this is what a version 1.0 of the nemesis system brought us, I think we all are looking for improvements to a promising feature. I do agree it was prototypical in feeling for that feature, the game itself was polished. I'm ok with that, they are trying something new that seems to have potential. It would suck if they keep making the same game and don't improve on it, that I would agree. Again I don't like to bash 1.0's of a new franchise, what I want from there is follow ups to improve upon them like they should, makes sense... doesn't always happen. I did not pay $60 for this.

Using a steering wheel on a Burnout game is like using the Space Shuttle controls to fly a kite.

Hopefully they've learned their lesson about reviews and go in to SoW all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

I'm also hoping this falls better in line within the written universe as a whole rather than a series of discrepancies.

I guess how you think about the game in this regard is largely dependent on how much you paid for it. I got it for what, entire package with all DLC's 5€ .. DLC stories were interesting, but they got really repetitive, yeah.

LOL boring in the first hour? Sum bitch is action packed, I'd buy after a while it gets repetitive for some. Not many games have as good of an action combat model as these games. From what I've seen it looks like ME Shadow's 2 up'd its game nicely.

Sweet, just what this game needed, a bigger sandbox. The new environments look great.

Meh, the first game got boring and repetitive as fuck after the first hour or so. I still haven't finished it. One of the worst buys ever for me as I paid full price for it...

If the gameplay is as good as the graphics then this is a GOTY candidate.
