But this team has been pretty good communicating, so I'm sure we'll find out soon.jdreyer wrote on May 1, 2017, 20:08:Task wrote on May 1, 2017, 19:30:This is just a game engine replacement. You need to own the original. They are doing other cool stuff like redoing the dynamic MIDI soundtrack.
Eh, but does it integrate with the excellent interactive menu is the real question. Without that, it's a bust for me.
A game engine replacement for just the in flight stuff? I get that it is a mod, but I want to know if I load up the game the menu is still there and when I press Fly after a mission briefing that it looks like that.

I picked up a new Flightstick last year to replay this game before I heard about this mod. My old Flightstick was 20 years old and a few of the buttons had stopped working.
I just wish they'd have the twist option so that you don't have to buy a set of pedals.
I ended up with the Saitek X55 when I was playing a lot of Elite
I know Saitek is not the same quality as CH but it served me well so far.
I heartily recommend the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I had wanted a nice HOTAS setup for my adventures in Elite:Dangerous and other flight/space sims and was looking at both the Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X and the Thrustmaster T.16000 FCS HOTAS (who thinks of these names?!). But, in the end, I figured spending around $40, given how much time I actually spend using it, was enough and thus, the Logi Extreme 3D Pro it was! Can't say I'm disappointed at all, it does exactly what I need it to and it's got that really nifty 'twist' so I don't have to worry about the whole rudder pedal thing. (I 'could' use my Logi G25 pedals if need be, though). I tried playing with just a PS3 Dualshock controller and a Logi Rumblepad2 but it's just not enough. I feel too...detached, when playing with a gamepad. With a stick, you feel like you're in more control. Eventually I plan to pick up a proper HOTAS setup, stick and throttle separate. Until then, though, what I have does fine. Would love to get into some old X-Wing/Tie Fighter action with it!

El Pit wrote on May 1, 2017, 09:57:It makes sense that they would start with X-Wing. But it was also the weakest game of the series in every way (especially the difficulty curve). So I agree, nail X-Wing and then bring on the Tie Fighter.
No, really, this is impressive. I will definitely go back to X-Wing with this mod. Great work, guys! And now... TIE Fighter, please, after you have finished this mod. PLEASE!![]()

Anybody recommend a good joystick for these games?
Jagacademy wrote on May 1, 2017, 10:40:I have read up a bit on this and there's no ETA yet. It's just a few guys doing this in there spare time. Probably as the feel they're getting close to the end they'll announce.
Any ETA on when this is supposed to be finished?
MoreLuckThanSkill wrote on May 1, 2017, 14:52:Same one. They have said they're going to scale that back and that there will be a range of AI levels.
Wow, that looks really good.![]()
Is this the same mod that was on Blues a few months ago, where they had accidentally made the TIE AI too good, and they were dodging every laser blast? If so, that's just going to make me rage quit.![]()
Doesn't seem so from the video, but I swear that was this mod. I guess they fixed that supernatural AI aspect.
