The problem with live-TV is that it's live-TV; if I wanted that, I'd watch actual TV

And Netflix Germany is 1/12th of USA and does not have any of the shows I am actually watching, (GoT, Expanse, Doctor Who)

To see GoT I'd have to subscribe to Sky, and if I wanted to see Doctor Who I'd have to take the train to England, and to see The Expanse I'd have to subscribe to Netflix except Netflix Germany only has season 1 of The Expanse (seriously!)

Maybe at some point someone in power realizes that the above situation is fucking stupid

I agree with all of the comments about live-tv. I'd also like to throw out one of my own: convenience. When I want to watch something, I want to just select it and start watching. I don't want to plan things around a show. I remember hating that as a teenager. Wanted to do something, but damnit, X-Files is on in 10 minutes!

Anyone who uses Facebook and whose shit gets used like this, eh, you get what you signed up for.

It's even worse if you live outside of the US, half of the decent content anyone wants to watch is 'unfortunately unavailable in your region'.

Until these content providers get even the slightest clue as to what's actually going on in 2017, they can get fricked, they can get fricked hard.

Bonus: Live-streaming sports (legitimately) online is a joke, there's a huge delay, meaning if something big happens, you're getting texts/messages from friends about it long before you even get to see it. Yet if I stumble upon a youtube or similar illegitimate live stream of the exact same event...it's like 8-15 seconds ahead of the 'legit' stream and is much closer to the one people would be seeing on conventional TV. It's a joke on so many levels.

Live TV streaming has all sorts of gotchas and other problems. That show you want? Its not available for streaming even though everything else is. That game you want to watch? Sorry NFL blackout rules. You can only buy X subscription if you are a member of Y internet provider. Oh and the thing people hate about TV in the form of commercials can sometimes be worse with streaming services. Finally you have huge fragmentation in this market which is great for choice but bad for users who had a tough enough time navigating the byzantine TV world already.

Why Aren’t More Cord-Cutters Flocking To Live-TV Streaming Services?

Because of the rage inducing, soul destroying hatred of commercials. And like Fion said, the actual programming content gets shorter and shorter every year.

I would love to cut the cord, but the higher cost of cable is still worth it to me for the ability to time-shift (record everything, start watching 20 minutes after it starts airing to skip all the commercials).

When these new live streaming services allow me to drop the commercials (pay extra, skip ahead, whatever), then I'll probably get on board, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Android boxes. 99% of television is garbage now anyway. People are gaming more, reading more, doing stuff outside. And outside the US streaming services simply aren't viable. Netflix Canada costs more than it's US counterpart and has less than a 1/4 of the programming. Who the hell is going to pay for that once they realize they can torrent, box, antenna, et al.

Live Streaming TV has two issues:

1. It isn't as reliable as cable/satellite.
2. Putting everything on my Internet usage can be costly as well with caps.

OTA is viable for many, yep.

Why Aren’t More Cord-Cutters Flocking To Live-TV Streaming Services?

Because after I cut the cord a few years ago I started to become disinterested in live TV shows I used to watch regularly. i realized I was watching those shows for 'something to do' and to justify my $200 a month bundled cable bill. Today the only regular TV shows I watch are some BBC shows like Doctor Who (which I have to torrent & steam to my TV) and the CW Arrowverse shows, which I used to do the same but now they have a free streaming app.

I also cut the cord because I was sick of commercials. Every year we get 5-10 seconds closer to 50% Show/50% Commercials in an hour. Right now it's something like 19 minutes of them per hour. That's insane! In comparison the UK averages 8 minutes per hour.

Besides, if you love that 'live TV' experience, get a freaking $20 Antenna. You can get 15-25 (or more depending on where you live) live, local channels that stream in HD with higher image & sound quality than cable EVER HAD. Why pay for a streaming tv subscription when all it offers beyond that is a dying ESPN.
