I'm actually a bit surprised the recommended specs are only a GTX 970. That's the equivalent of a $200 video card these days. It's surprisingly affordable.

The head-scratching decision to call this game "Prey" aside, it looks like it has the potential to be good. Waiting for reviews/Let's Plays.

I'm on a list to get a review copy, still waiting to hear back from Bethesda.

Prey is essentially a corridor shooter, so I wouldn't expect it to be very demanding. Still weird that they're using CryEngine instead of Bethesda's own id Tech 6 but I'm guessing development started before id Tech 6 was ready.

@ Fishingtime

I see your point. And, I've been playing PC games for over twenty years now. In the midst of watching one of the game play pieces of footage (it was a capture of the first 35 minutes of the game), I must confess I was bored with what I saw. I wanna be wowed during an introduction. I want to be inspired during an introduction. Neither of these emotions struck me while watching the footage. Also, there wasn't one game play feature that sparked my interest---it was total "been there before, nothing new" content. 35 minutes into a game provides plenty of time to show something innovative and creative, neither of which took place during the play and scenery. Really sad there are some developers out their lacking in innovative vision.

hmm, I don't know about that. Not all good games need to start with a flashy intro, especially if the point is to create atmosphere...

To be honest, I've seen 2 previews from Gronkh (German youtube let's player) and liked what I saw... tons of gameplay variations later on as well, tons of interesting stuff to discover in the maps (and that was just the first 2 hours..)

It's a great card, and more than powerful enough to run titles designed to run on console hardware.

I was under the impression it was more like a spiritual successor to System Shock, but that name is taken and SS3 is being made by former LGS guys.. I'll wait for the reviews too, if they nailed the atmosphere i'll get it definitely.

Really? How many games let you morph into environmental objects and then use your newfound form to open up traversal or stealth opportunities? How many games let you shoot projectiles that solidify and can be used to incapacitate enemies or create platforms? And these are just the two features that have been shown off frequently.

Surprised at the apathy toward this game. It's made by people who made Dishonored, Deus Ex, Dark Messiah, Arx Fatalis, and is continuing the Looking Glass design legacy. I'm expecting it to be good and really don't care what the title is.

The only thing that's making me meh so far about this title is that the enemies/aliens all look the same and might get boring in a hurry. Gameplay wise, they are excellent at allowing you to just get through a level whatever way you want, and it's always a lot of fun in their games.

Their insistence to call this game "Prey" reminds when MS insisted that the FPS game be called "Shadowrun" when, in fact, it was nothing like the original. Shadowrun, while a decent MP game, failed due to labeling a well loved IP something that should never have been. Unless Prey is something amazing, I predict its imminent failure as well.

Agreed, 43 and gaming since the vic20. In this day & age i can't see myself being wowed or inspired by a game and i don't need that to form an objective view/impression/opinion.

Entirely. The sense of "wow" mostly died in my early 20s. I still love most games I play, though.

Prey is a cool name and very few people are familiar with the original title, so why not use the same name again? They probably want to start a new franchise with an iconic name and why shouldn't they? Come up with another good name for this game's premise if it's so easy.
