ORCS MUST DIE! UNCHAINED Released

Robot Entertainment announces the official release of ORCS MUST DIE! UNCHAINED, saying their free-to-play comedic tower defense game is now off the chain and available on the game's website and Steam. This news post has all the details, starting with this overview:

Orcs Must Die! Unchained takes the award-winning Orcs Must Die! action tower defense gameplay to a whole new level with 3-player team-based gameplay! But donít get cocky, because the stakes are higher, the traps are bloodier, and the invaders are even more ravenous. Youíll need to bring your A-game and a couple of the biggest orc-haters you can find!

Orcs Must Die! Unchained is set in the familiar world of its hilarious fantasy predecessors, years after the finale of Orcs Must Die! 2. With dozens of new rifts and worlds beyond them, heroes have come from far and wide to wage all-out war for control of these magical gateways. In the years since Orcs Must Die! 2, Maximillian and Gabriella have done their best to rebuild the once-mighty Order.

I loved OMD1 and 2, played both solo, 5 skulled pretty much everything I believe. I do agree somewhat with El Pit though, the second game involved running back and forth quite a bit more than I'd personally like for a tower D game, I always assumed it was the coop nature.

I guess I'll check out Unchained at some point, but yeah, this was a MOBA-ish thing at one point, and it's still free to play, so I assume there are some bullshit microtransactions at the very least.

I enjoyed the first Orcs Must Die! game a lot. Unfortunately the sequel was build with co-op in mind and gave the fans of the first game the finger in a way. If this F2P game is again single player oriented, I will give it a try.

The sequel played fantastic single player. I have never played these games multi, but 5 skulled every level in both games. The sequel is a much trickier and more fun game.

If you enjoyed running from one of the end to the other because you played the level alone instead of co-op, good for you. What levels with single player in mind should look like you could see in the first game.

It's an action puzzle game. Those levels required, y'know, action. And thinking.

So did the first. Remember? But the level design was much better because of not having co-op in mind. I will check out if this game later and then we will see.

I five skulled them all. Solo. They're not hard. And the game has an identical Metacritic score and higher user score, so... you're in the minority for thinking it was giving fans the middle finger. It may not have been to your taste, but it wasn't giving fans the middle finger.

This game was originally supposed to be a kind of MOBA, but I think they changed their minds when people didn't like it in EA. Will check it out, but I really wish they just made a single player (with co-op), non-F2P game like OMD1 and OMD2. I enjoyed both of those. Pretty sure this won't live up to them.

Didn't this game come out years ago? Or was that some kind of beta? I remember playing it at PAX 2015 for sure, maybe even before that. Either way, wonder if it's worth checking out

It was Early Access - this is it's official full release.
