Hence the east Asian martial arts mythos, which is roughly as plausible as King Arthur and Excalibur, Siegfried and the Dragon, etc., and somewhat less plausible than The Man With No Name's skill with a gun, is swallowed more or less whole by western rubes desperate for something to believe in, but denied their own (earnest) mythology.

No need to be derogatory, but yes, even a 10-20 pound weight difference among equally skilled competitors is going to be huge. If you do study martial arts, I highly recommend you study at school(s) that do at least light body contact and/or grappling, so you realize that it's not just training, but cardio, speed and strength that matter quite a bit.

That's why the ridiculous size difference of Charlize Theron (yes, very sexy, excellent actress, etc.) fighting Tom Hardy or some of the giant thugs in the Atomic Blonde trailers makes me roll my eyes. It's possible she could win, sure. Just not very likely.

I like her but I just can never buy the Chick John Wick kind of flick. It was like Salt with Angelina, or Lara Croft with Angelina, or any other ultimate badass chick flick. And any trailer with Kanye West music in it does not bode well. However, the cast is solid all around so I'm sure I'll give it a watch at some point.

I've only seen Jackie Chan fight in high heels once and he didn't look that good for some reason!

I'm hoping there's at least a 3 movie story, similar to John Wick. I'd always rather be watching Dame Charlize, she's in stunningly good shape.

Her acting skills are far and away better than most martial art ladies at least in US movies.
