Dean Hall's Stationeers Revealed

Eurogamer has word that Dean Hall is attending EGX Rezzed, revealing Stationeers, an upcoming space station management game in the werkz at RocketWerkz. It's not clear if this is the multiplayer game he teased in October, but they say it will support multiplayer, as well as solo play. They say early access should begin soon, and in the meantime, offer this description:
Inspired by the beloved Space Station 13, Stationeers puts you in control of the construction and management of a space station either by yourself in single-player, or online with your friends. Complex systems around atmospherics, power generation

The biggest fault against DayZ is that it was built on a shitty shit engine and had awful multiplayer infrastructure. I wouldn't care if it was in EA all this time if it actually played well but you fire it up and there's as much buggy, poorly-optimized bullshit now as there was years ago.

He probably cashed out because he knew it could never be fixed and there was no point in hanging around with that noose around his neck.

To be fair, DayZ as a game has improved performance insanely on that engine, and the renderer they made for that will be used in the next ARMA game, which will be fantastic most likely. I think that and the multiple reiterations of zombie coding probably ate up most of their time. Now they're redoing the entirety of the forests on Chernarus next patch.

This Stationeers game sounds like that failed Ion game was reimagined or repackaged, of his.

Dean, though, needs to sit down and finish something before he announces anything else.

So it has been almost 2.5 years since he departed Bohemia Interactive (November 2014), and DayZ (Standalone Version) is still in 'early access'. Sad. WTF are they still doing?

I wouldn't mind Dean Hall's moving on in that explanation as much if it weren't for DayZ staying on the Arma 2 engine instead of Arma 3 (which was available) mainly because of the familiarity of the team with the A2 engine (ie Dean Hall). The Dayz equivalents that you can play on Arma 3 are vastly improved over their Arma 2 predecessors in terms of stability and general clunky-ness. Forget a noose, that's one albatross around the neck that the Standalone didn't need to be carrying if the main reason for using it was going to walk away anyway.

Yeah I think Dean Hall has great ideas but I'm not buying into his half finished messes anymore.

So can someone give an objective account of what happened with DayZ? Dean Hall made the mod when working with Arma guys, then spun it off into an early access project that never got finished? Now he has a new studio? Or same studio but working on a new game? Couldn't find this with wikipedia search and am lazy.
