Sid Meier's Civilization VI Demo

The Steam page for Sid Meier's Civilization VI now offers a playable demo for the turn-based strategy sequel. This comes as a bit of a surprise, since the game was released well over a year five months ago, but better late than never. The game is currently on sale for those who enjoy their sample. Here's a rundown on the demo:
Players who download the Sid Meier’s Civilization VI demo will be able to play as China, led by Qin Shi Huang and take their first steps building a new civilization for up to 60 turns in to the game. For those completely new to the Civilization series the demo also includes the tutorial from the full game to introduce and guide beginners to the world of Civilization.

I got the game for free and I'm glad I did or I would have been pissed. First Civ I've never liked. Skip it and stick with V or wait until it's $10 or less at the very least.

I think it's funny Civ 5 was blasted and Civ4 the darling last time around.

Anyway, I agree there's something missing about 6. I haven't played a full game through yet.I always get bored/frustrated/depressed somewhere around the beginning of the renaissance and just quit.

That and I had to turn off barbarians. I used to enjoy them in previous games but their spawn rate and technology tree is bullshit. I spend most of those games desperately trying to survive from the constant barbarian encampment spawns and have almost no time for any of the other civs.

I am going to feel dirty saying this, but Cutter is absolutely right. Civ is one of my all time favorite franchises, but I am still upset I spent any money on 6. There is so much wrong with it. I went back to playing 5.

You must feel dirty most of the time in that case. Sucks being right all the time.

Maybe in a while when it's fully "expansioned" and modded?

It's weird, it actually has most the mechanics from V already. It just dosn't work that well, havn't touched the thing since launch. Religion, trade, espionage and a few other things felt bolted on in V and not quite right, but the game itself still felt civ-epic. At least after Gods and Kings.

This one feels a little too close to Civ-rev. I don't mind the faster games or graphical style, but some of the awesome has been streamlined out and I'm not sure how to articulate it.

For me the killer was these horrible stylized graphics and idiotic leader interactions, CIV was always about pseudo realism, that they changed that pissed me off and I actually still prefer 5 as well

In 6 they tried to make it "cutesy" removing any potentially offensive or complex gameplay element. When this series needed to be more realistic, they opted to make it more casual.

Shit, I hate the speed at which time flies. October 21, 2016 was already well over a year ago.
