Do you honestly think that Obama clip is "the same events", i.e. comparable to what Trump and his administration are accused of?

Obama was currently in office. Trump was not. I see that as a huge difference.

For one. I'm trying to figure out what he actually said. Was it:

1) There's an election, I don't want to be distracted
2) There's an election, I want to look tough on you
3) There's an election, the next administration should deal with this according to their mandate. If I win, we can talk.
4) It benefits the US for this to be delayed, so I'm using the election as a "higher authority" gambit.

#2 is the most likely and it is dishonest in that it is misleading the electorate ... in the same way that literally every politician in every political party in every democracy ever does. That's equal to Trump?

I took it as a combination of #2, meaning there's an election and I have to be cautious about how people report things, along with "there's an election, and people will try to stonewall anything I do, but will be more willing to work with me once they know they have 4 more years of me."

I didn't start the thread. I pointed something out from the other side, something people have a hard time looking at....

Again, I don't have a side. But those pretending what is going on is NEW or hasn't been done in the last 8 (or many more) years need a reality check.

Both sides are guilty of plenty, but both sides are not equally guilty. Trump and his administration are worse, it only looks like a witch hunt because much of the criticism also applies to you.

My political utopia:

Get rid of the 2 parties
Outlaw lobbyists
Get big business and money out of politics
Term senators and congressman (also state level)
Get rid of Super PACS (can't believe these are legal)
Rid waste, "pork barrel" spending, and rider bills, also duplicity in services

That would be a huge start, that would usher in a lot of positive change. I can't believe we spend as much as we do in big G. Being a politician has turned into a gold mine. They have lost sight of what is truly right for their constituents and line their pockets with money and their friend's businesses with open ended open checkbook contracts.

How some of the above things have occurred, especially in respects to $, is beyond me. Looking into it, not sure how it isn't illegal. Lobbyists are writing laws.

Anyway. We are a long way from this. Sucks. This term will be nothing but witch hunting and fighting, I don't know that either party has the ability to do the right thing anytime soon.

Would still love to see a President that removes big G from our daily lives. Let individual States do their job on laws and daily matters.

I don't think it is OK for any of the politicians to do ANYTHING ANY of them are being accused of. The problem with our society is it is "OK" until the other side does it.

Good. I agree, that's very destructive.

Why do you only speak up when it's the Republicans being accused? You have done this before, complained about Democrats who only complain about the other side and it seems blatantly hypocritical when you're doing it to effectively give the Republicans a pass.

Do you think not liking the two-party system means you don't have a side? You don't like the two-party system but you still clearly think one of those parties is worse than the other - just like everyone else.

Republicans' hypocrisy knows no bounds. Half of Trump's administration is using personal email for government business and Trump's using an ancient unsecured phone for communication, while talking about top secret information in public restaurants. Meanwhile Republicans aren't concerned that it seems Trump's entire administration has been in talk with the Russians, while Russia was actively helping him win the election, then after the election, he promised to lift sanctions on them. Hell, that's treason!

Imagine the same events, but perpetrated by the Democrats. Half the Fox news cast would burst arteries in their temples on air, and the congress would be hold a dozen different impeachment hearings.

Ill just put this right here.....

And some info to go with it.

And lest ye be reminded that there are scores of Dems that have recently met with the same individual. Including Nancy Pelosi who flat out said she NEVER met with the guy.

The hypocrisy is so thick it is hard to see 5 feet in front of one's self.

Mrs Bill Clinton met with China several times during election.

And do we have to bring up the Mr Bill Clinton and Lynch tarmac talk? Come on.

It happens on both sides.

I agree with your first part since I called Trump and Hillary both being hypocrites, but not buying the Russian part. I totally called it that Trump also would be a Militarist like Hillary, which is what are we seeing now for example, because both would not be able to resist the temptations of the most wasteful budget this country has, on "Defense." The whole narrative regarding Russia reeks of McCarthyism, they are not an enemy. If you don't know what that is, look it up. If you are so concerned about a country "helping him win" (which is vague) then perhaps you would like a list of far more malicious things America has done to "help" someone win an election in other countries? And regarding sanctions, I take it you are for sanctions, even though they mostly hurt regular people like you and I? It's nothing more than economic terrorism. For discussion of Hypocrisy, we must be Fair and Balanced™, since it goes both ways.

Very good points. There are lots of "isms" that would apply to what is going in the US (left & right). To say "..they are not an enemy.." is interesting to say the least. look up "Putin's rise to power" as an intro. It should give you an idea of why Russia's action are not perceived as benign. It also gives some context to what's been reported about Putin/Russia over the last decade and more. I understand your point about sanctions, but think of the alternatives. Even though the people can overthrow anyone, gone is the era of the common folk rising up & risking life and limb for justice/greater good etc. For now, sanctions seem to be the only non military deterrent that's proving to yield results. I say results because it reduces the flow of money to those in power and limits the "gifts" they can make locally to maintain their grip on absolute power. If necessity is the mother of invention, maybe just maybe the need for change after years of sanctions will lead to innovative ways for people to mobilize for something as important as change. Look at how the disappearance of the middle changed the political landscape in the US. $ has become the great motivator!

My 2 cents
