Nice, girlfriend ordered this laptop and instead of 128GB SSD/12GB RAM they somehow shipped her a 512GB/32GB version. I made sure we selected the one direct from MSI, but it looks like we received an SKU from Computer Upgrade King that's supposed to cost $300 more. Sort of makes up for her old laptop being stolen.

Awesome, you win. Rest easy knowing the law is on your side.
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0181-unordered-merchandiseQ. Am I obligated to return or pay for merchandise I never ordered?
A. No. If you receive merchandise that you didn’t order, you have a legal right to keep it as a free gift.
Q. Must I notify the seller if I keep unordered merchandise without paying for it?
A. You have no legal obligation to notify the seller.
My translation of the above: You are under no legal obligation to be a decent human being. You are free to be a selfish prick. Congratulations, the law is on your side!

BobBob wrote on Feb 22, 2017, 15:15:I understand the concern. However, in this particular case my realtor was actually someone I've known personally for many years. Within the realm of possible? Sure. Likely? Not in this particular case. That said, collusion on the price to get an extra $90, only $45 on each side, seems like a risk hardly worth taking.
There's no such thing as 'realtor on your side' because he/she profits by a commission on the higher sale price. Wouldn't be surprised if 'something else, off record' was going on there.

It's probably a consumer protection law preventing companies from sending people more expensive items than what they ordered/paid for, and then billing them for the difference and/or use it as an aggressive up-sale technique. Companies have more resources and would have more experience in such matters putting consumers at a considerable disadvantage. So while an honest person may think the law too aggressive, having it so cut and dry in the consumer's favor curtails dishonest behavior on the part of the company.

Then a few weeks later the house literally next door was listed, I went to see it on the first day of the listing. The next day I did the paper work to make an offer, only to find out a few hours later there was another offer. At my realtor's suggestion I upped my offer by $1,500. It was a tense six hours before my agent called and said they had accepted my offer. And all this is in a town of a little over 100k.

Didn't get the West Village apartment. Apparently the building management company concealed from my realtor that there was another applicant, and then basically stonewalled her when she asked for more info about why the other applicant was selected over me. My realtor's take was that the building management already had a tenant lined up and just played us to get an extra application fee. In my realtor's words, "Welcome to the world of New York real estate."
She's going to present me with some new listings later this afternoon, and then we'll go from there. Oh well.
Don't feel too bad though, this kind of thing can happen even in far less competitive markets. When I was looking for the house I own (with the mortgage company) now I was looking in a specific neighborhood. I had only really started looking, hadn't even signed on with a realtor yet. Found a listing pretty much right where I wanted to be. Called the listing agent, made an appointment for two days later to see the place. Two hours before the appointment she called and said an offer had been accepted on the house. Speaking of mental health issues:Ford was reportedly captured on air traffic control recordings asking, “Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?” Air traffic control then informed the actor that he inadvertently landed on a taxiway with awaiting aircraft instead of the runway he was instructed to head toward.
In audio released last week, the actor was heard making mistakes during radio communication with air traffic control in the minutes leading up to his close call. He responded to the control tower by fumbling his words and telling them that he was flying a helicopter rather than his single-engine plane.
Jesus, revoke his license already.
