Out of the Blue

When I was younger I had a hard time understanding why those older than me seemed obsessed with getting rid of objects that cluttered up their lives. Now that I'm digging through 16 years worth of clutter, I wish I had just taken it on faith that I would come to such a point as well. I have thrown out and boxed up a lot of stuff, and it seems like there is still more of it that's left to be dealt with. I'm at the point where if it was practical to burn the rest I might just, but it will be almost as much work to pile it into a bonfire as it will be to sort through it, so I guess there's no easy way out here.

It was just a throw-away comment, you know perfectly well what he meant.

the context implies a superhuman level of being able to overcome, since it is "the worst pain in existence"... or at the very least, the simple "im better than you" argument everyone says all the time

and i dont necessarily bother addressing what he means only on the most superficial, surface and "conscious" level... because its generally the least important part of communication - but moreover, that really has nothing to do with the reason behind whether i decide to say anything or not

Can you fit two cars in your garage?

A good one!

My parents have never been able to. My dad turns 80 next month. I guarantee he still has pesticide from the early 80s in that garage. Also, the boogey boards I used as a child.

To their credit, they did a good job clearing out much of the clutter in the basement. But the garage... sure, it's small and tight to begin with and I don't know where they'd put some of the stuff they actually need if they had two cars, but... by now they can't even reach so much of what would need to go.

Meanwhile, useless stuff everywhere in the garage, a basement finally mostly kind of clean, yet every time I go home they point to the box full of my NES and all the games and ask if they can throw it out...

Worst pain I've had is an ulcer. That was unreal. Felt like someone stuck a jagged glass shard covered in sulfuric acid into my gut and kept twisting it around. On the 1-10 scale of pain it was 12. And I've had broken bones, and all kinds of other pains. This just hurts - everywhere. It's more dull and generalized but whenever I move I get sharp twinges. It's really like I took a shitkicking from a biker gang or something. I have pain in areas I didn't know I had sorta thing. Just sitting down on the couch is a major effort and hurts a lot. I can't even put my feet up on the coffee table without physically lifting my legs up with my arms - and yeah, it hurts like a sonofabitch when I do that too. Well I just dropped my first tab of morphia - 5mg - so we'll see what's what in short order.

Ok, seriously though, has anyone here ever had "postoperative myalgia"? Jesus Christ, I feel like I've been run over by a truck several times. My understanding is the comes from the drug "scoline" they use under general anesthesia - apparently it causes all your muscles to continually contract and relax in order to help move blood and oxygen while you're under. They say it can last 2-3 days but I don't see much on treatment for it...

It's succinylcholine, a depolarizing muscle relaxant:

Sorry it's hurting, man. Feel better soon.

Yeah, I kinda figured you'd know. Anything to do for it besides ride it out? Google is surprisingly short on how to treat it considering it's supposed to be pretty common. I'm getting my morphine prescription - as I don't do well with codeine - so I'm hoping that helps. Thanks.

Muscle pain from succinylcholine is most common in young female patients. Me thinks they removed it instead of just shortening.

Succinylcholine is a muscle relaxant. It works by keeping muscles from contracting. It is not used to make muscles continually contract to aid in circulation.

ive had a few friends that went thru it.. ever since i heard it comes mainly from lack of hydration (via alcohol or anything) i been drinking close to a gallon of water per day at least.. been going that way for years now

pain is subjective, but i seriously doubt a kidney stone is "worst in existence", just because i know you havent experienced every pain in existence, so Q.E.D

never heard of post-op myalgia.. but i have heard of and also personally experienced doctors not knowing a fucking thing about what they are talking about, getting misdiagnosis and dealing with their personal mistakes and all that shit, so i barely trust any of them at this point.. its a case by case thing, so im not saying they are all retards.. but yeh - that sucks
