Thanks MajorD.

Crazy.

I was going to comment that YouTube isn't kind to texture detail so this isn't a fair comparison - but even with that in mind, the difference is so minimal. I'll probably just hit up Nexus Mods when I want to play it and get the best texture packs there. Maybe they will have adopted the more useful parts of the official pack.

And to enhance your textures even more for FO4, check this texture mod out. I've tested both the 2K (Performance Version) and the 4K versions, and from what I experienced the 4K is overkill and not even worth the performance hit, as the 2K is more than enough.

Do you run with both this texture pack and the official hi-res one, or do both packs cover many of the same textures?

Right now I am, but still experimenting with having the texture mod installed too to determine how much of a difference it makes. I haven't figured out how much overlap there is yet, but I do like the texture diffuse mapping the mod has. The images on the mod page don't give it justice.

Apparently like 20+ GB and half the textures in this pack are literally the same textures that are already included in the game itself, but because Bethesda is apparently so goddamned LAZY, they couldn't be bothered to make a DLC that only offers the new stuff, they just make you download 20 Gig of shit that you already have?

Works fine with a non SSD hard drive and a 1070.

What is the resolution you are playing at, HElf?

1920x1080.

How are the load times? I imagine they've gotten pretty terrible?

Ooh, great... if you're a pseudo-gamer who cares more about how your game looks than how it plays, then yeah, get your retard on all day.

This is a cool addition, I appreciate Bethesda releasing this. I'll probably give FO4 another play-through soon, with DLC and more mature mods than my first one so this will be nice - if my 1070 can handle it. If not, it's always good to see boundaries being pushed.

The game definitely looks clearer/crisper.

Anyone planning on another play through, but want a more challenging experience where you don't have an over abundance of supplies by/before level 30 (on survival), and the rest of the game is a cakewalk, then you need to check out the Horizon Mod . It's almost like the FO3-FWE mod for FO4. I am several hours in and the game feels like a true 'survival' game. The mod's description page does it no justice. The mod author is very active with the mod and community. Definitely a must for subsequent play throughs.

And to enhance your textures even more for FO4, check this texture mod out. I've tested both the 2K (Performance Version) and the 4K versions, and from what I experienced the 4K is overkill and not even worth the performance hit, as the 2K is more than enough.

Is this the patch that makes the game... Eh, nevermind.

In truth, I picked up FO4 at half price last year and played it through (70 hours), and it was decent but I always felt there was something lacking. Unlike Skyrim, which I played for 150 hours and could not get enough of.

I guess different strokes for different folks...

I picked it up and made it like... 4 hours. I think I'm standing outside the gate of the first big city because that was the point where I ran out of fucks to give.

There was a whole lot more love put into Skyrim. Bethesda never really "got" what Fallout is about.

I hope the 1070 can also pull this off at 1440p later this year.

I'm still not falling for it though, this franchise is long dead and the game itself is a bad joke - NMA FO4 Review.

You're going to post a review of Fallout 4 by the users of NMA? That's like asking Karl Rove to critique Bernie Sanders' campaign. You may find nuggets of truth in there, but the sheer disgust by the reviewer of the material will mean there's pretty much no chance of the work being objective.

Mhh, I find that review to be pretty accurate .. bad world design is bad world design, no matter who puts that into words. The story and characters in Fallout 4 are about the most inane things Bethesda has produced, and that includes Skyrim, which is even more absurd.

I'll wait until a modder takes it and reduces the size while retaining the quality. Seriously Beth should hire some of these guys. 58GB is ridiculous.

I'm betting that the minimums have more to do with VRAM than anything else, just whoever wrote the min. specs down didnt quite understand (or test it).

Yes the mins are related to VRAM amounts. Though while sometimes it has an impact if you utilize more than it has in ram, other times it doesn't, at least no where to the performance hit it use to years ago.

If anything you might get a couple dips in min frame rate or some clipping of textures these days.

Seriously? Wtf is even the point of releasing these with those sorts of reqs as a minimum?

The engine has shit optimization and still requires fans to fix things, but they know why Cutter - because the rabid fanbase will gobble it up. Dem grafics man, it'll make the game so gud and get Bethesda a few extra bucks from stragglers.
